lol, I don't know if I should apologize or congratulate you :D He's a nice solid figure. Definitely a major step up from Grimlock and Starscream in my book, neither of which I cared for the feel of in hand. I've got MP-10 on order for the end of the month and am hoping he's just as great as Soundwave; I've heard good things so I'm not worried.

After digging MP-08 Grimlock back out last night, I can see the appeal and desire for a larger, properly-scaled Masterpiece Grimlock. In robot mode, he just didn't look right standing next to Masterpiece Soundwave :gah:

That said, I don't think it's a problem I'd pay $200 to resolve :p

yeah I want to get all the dinobots they would look great once completed

I think FansToys is kinda close and ToyWorld has kinda shown all of them?

edit: yeah FansToy has released three, have a forth up for pre-order with prototype images and the final maybe has been shown in line art form. Maybe. ToyWorld has released two, have a colored/painted prototype of the third up for pre-order have shown the colored prototype of the fourth and gray prototype of the fifth I think.

I think FansProject is close too. Five bots is a lot to put out for the smaller companies.

Re: All things transformers!!!!

Official photos of the SDCC edition of Devastator have been published. I whipped up a comparison of the Hasbro retail versions versus the SDCC versions. Like I keep saying, the vac-metal purple is the least notable change. The SDCC versions are dramatically superior in the paint apps and decals department.

I just won a quake wave for 378.00 flat rate shipping. I hope I got a good deal out of it as I know how rare he is becoming. he even comes with the replacement arm and hands. I might get a g1 shock wave and use him as the gun mode since he is almost as tall as the quake wave and has the cool electronics and laser sounds. and I can leave quake wave in his robot mode.

The only bad thing about the SDCC version to me is the purple chrome which just looks weird.

Is this your first Sdcc? It's actually a pain in the ass...

Yeah it's my first one. Everything I've heard about going seems to be a pain in the ass but waiting in lines and all that is just part of going to cons. I may not get one for my effort but I'll give it a shot.

Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful experience. But I'd seriously consider going online and seeing about getting "tickets" for the exclusives you want. Yup, that's yet another standing in line experience.

Enjoy!

Better decals are good, but I prefer the yellow of the non-exclusive.

I suspect the yellow/green of the two versions isn't actually any different in real life, and that it's purely a difference in the photography.
Just an update on the green of the SDCC version; I had forgotten about this photo from IGN the week prior. As you can see, the green of the SDCC Devastator appears very different than Hasbro's official promotional images. In fact I'm sure it's the same yellowish-green of the retail version.

And TT is teasing their own version that'll likely be shown at the Tokyo show:

:rotfl So true.

I really hope the Devastator used in that teaser silhouette is just the Hasbro retail version being used as a stand-in for the actual Takara Tomy version, because based on what is visible there - if that's the Takara Tomy version then it's going to far more closely resemble the Hasbro retail version than it will the SDCC special edition. Meaning, there's zero visible difference between what can be seen there and the Hasbro retail version. And the additional decals and paints of the SDCC version are all absent.

Either way, the good news is we know we'll see Takara Tomy's product before the SDCC version goes on sale so we'll be able to make an informed buying decision.
