Just paid the remaining $179 usd. Exchange rate is killing me. Cost me $265 AUD 😢
If the Aussie dollar doesn't start to rise I might have to ease off on this hobby.

On Weta's Treebeard!

Man I really wanted that Treebeard! Looked it up and it's waaaaaaaaaaaay above my price range. I was hoping it was a bust Asmus was making.
Oh well, congrats to those that already own the weta statue.

Back to the Hobbits, keen as a bean!!! The hands look proportional, the right amount of buttons on Merry. Pippin looks really sad emotionally but I don't even care, these two are the figures I've been after the longest. Ever since sideshow gave up on the LOTR line I've been longing for these two little hobbits. (And Gimli of course, but I've had the toy biz one filling in for him.)
Can't wait for them to show up at my door :)

Invoice is paid....can't wait to see them in hand! This is actually my first Asmus purchase, looking forward to getting them.

They look great. Really excited that these should be out soon.

Now to dream that one day Asmus will make a 1/6 scale Treebeard. That would be awesome.

The hands look a lot better in these new shots. They seem nicely proportional. :yess:

Loving the outfits and especially the sculpt work on those feet! Great work, Asmus!

Merry's sculpt looks much better. But Pippin's nose looks a tiny bit off now. It doesn't turn up at the end like Billy Boyd's does. But overall I'm more than satisfied with how this set looks right now! :clap

Now if only I'd won the Powerball, I could've picked up one of those Treebeard busts!

Whoa! :horror He might even be bigger than that! I think he was about 15 feet tall according to Tolkien, but he seems a lot taller in the movies. I would guess he'd need to be at least three feet tall in 1/6 scale!

If done well, though ... that could look amazing!

A quick search listed a height of 14 ft which would be 28 inches. The Toybiz version is 15 inches to the top of the head not counting the height to the highest branch which would put him at 30 inches plus. Either way he would be a pretty massive figure. Treebeard is one of my favorite characters in the movie and would love to see him done someday.

Well I think 28 inch sounds rather doable,
look at most of my statue collection, they are a few already go above that...

I saw that number too, but I think that's the height Tolkien gave him in the books. I think movie Treebeard is a good deal taller. I think Toybiz fudged the scale somewhat on their Treebeard too. Toybiz fudged the scale pretty regularly (have you ever seen their Fell Beast? It's hilariously undersized! :lol)

That said, I TOTALLY wouldn't mind cheating a little on the scale if that makes this possible at a reasonable price ...

Wow. Really?

Wow.

:thud:

Do I smell the need for a release of Treebeard ...?

Hell yes! I almost bought a knock off hot toys groot to use as an Ent hahaha
Although realistically it would probably have to be just the bust otherwise it would be way to big.

Do I smell the need for a release of Treebeard ...?

Absolutely! I just re-watched Two Towers and Love him.

He seemed to change scale a bit depending on the scene and whether the Hobbits were on/near him or he was on his own.

If you made Sauron, Treebeard, and maybe a Troll that would be a great trio of big boys for the LOTR collection. Down for them all. They would occupy the tops of my Detolfs most likely, or I will have to build a special display cabinet but I'll figure that out after you make them.
