Asmus Toys: Merry and Pippin Lord of the Rings 1/6 Scale Figures

Asmus how far off are Frodo and Sam? Im undecided if get merry and pippin now or wait for a 4 pack.
I already have a sideshow/custom 4 hobbits, so really dont know what to do, seriously dont want to risk the asmus merry and pippin selling out. Oh the stresses of life

I must admit that is a question I was on the verge of asking.

Nice. I'm glad, for one, that they'll be separate. Only have room for Frodo.

Perhaps they will do a Frodo with SHIRE costume, fellowship attire (with sword and cloak), and perhaps with Orc Armor! It would be a pretty LARGE scale pack!! Sam would be the same, SHIRE, Fellowship, and Orc Armor! That would be SWEET...perhaps ship each with a COUPLE heads (one regular and one 'battle damaged'...or 'Mordor damaged')!

I would personally love to get Sam and Frodo in their Fellowship gear first and then get a second wave of all four hobbits later with their respective armor looks. (And perhaps you could strip off Frodo and Sam's orc armor for the final Mt. Doom look.)

Even though I have zero display space left, I would like to showcase at least two looks for each of the hobbits. So I would need two bodies for each. Multiple releases make the most sense for me, even though it would be more expensive.

Overall impression is good, hands are not oversized, bodies are nice and sturdy. The pic with Sam doesn't really show off the scale issue as much as I'd like, but it is a huge difference.

They came from my daughter's doll house. They're Barbie scale

Well, take Sam off the stand. That would help the scale issue a bit. If Asmus would sell bodies we could switch over and keep cost down, Asmus could complete the other figures in the works.

That's not what I meant. Sam is way taller than the other two, no matter the stand. Scale is far different between the two, putting Sam and Frodo's head on the Asmus bodies would not work. Clothing either.

I did also post a photo of comparison a while ago,
We actually use Sideshow's hobbit body as a scale for the dwarf body,
they are about the same height.

I received my Merry and Pippin today! #26/1500. THANK YOU ASMUS!!! I have been wanting these two ever since I started collecting the SSC LOTR line.
Overall I am happy with them. I'll try and find time to take photos tomorrow.

My two gripes are that Merry's face looks like it's dirty or he got a bad fake tan or something. Mine was overboard on the skin spot pigmentation. Pippin is great but Merry looks kind of off because of that.

The only other thing is I wish Pippin came with his purple cloak. It seems odd to open the purple box that has a picture of Pippin wearing his purple cloak and then to not get it in the box seems like a let down (I know it wasn't expected but my brain was tricked into thinking it should be there).

Anyways thank you again Asmus, you have made my wife and I extremely happy! Can't wait for Frodo and Sam to replace our sideshow ones!

I couldn't agree more with both of those statements....exactly the same feeling in my household. My wife immediately was like, we need a new Frodo and Sam to go with these.
