I think the freerunning engine is smoother than the previous games (as it should be), but it's still not perfect. But they aren't knew to this game, the entire series has had these issues with climbing/running especially during chase scenes or horseback riding. Even the great ACII. And while I do miss the tall, majestic buildings of Jerusalem and high rooftops of Italy, I do really like the look of this game. I don't even do fast travel alot because I like running into frontiersmen and chasing down all the urban myths and legends. The naval battles are the best additional missions to any AC games. They are an absolute blast. Connor's such a likeable character and I loved the dynamic of playing as Haytham. I think this game was hyped up so much that when it wasn't perfect and it's flaws (that have been there in every game) get magnified, people are really annoyed now.

EDIT: And I want a Connor fig, with a swappable mohawked head with war-paint.

Just finished the main game. I feel very uninspired by it. And holy CGI sequences during the end!!!!! I felt like I was playing a Kojima game for crap's sake.
Connor's story and gameplay was fantastic. But the first 3 sequences with Haytham are the worst parts of the game so far. The game feels incredibly slow to get going, and honestly the Haytham stuff could have been cut. The game actually feels better paced once you start playing Conner. I honestly think they only had us start as Haytham so they could throw us the crazy TWIST!!!!

Agreed. I was doubting the game when I was playing as Haytham. I found him interesting but the missions were meh, and his combat was stiffer. I loved the twist though...that was the saving grace for me and made playing as him a bit more satisfying. But the moment Connor showed up, the game felt fresher and had a better pace. The combat is so much more fluid as well.

And the ending was a disappointment. Felt like a cop out. Desmond's choice seemed mighty Templar-like to me. Makes me wonder why he was the one who was so important. Why didn't Juno just manipulate things so Haytham could make the same choice? He's surely go for freeing her, since it's a world full of order and organization.

So i went to do the chase again, didnt even take me a lap -_-. I was enjoying being in the prison quite a bit, i had to knock it off so i will look forward to carrying on next time i get the chance

One thing that makes me laugh with these games is how despite you apparently being a one of kind amazing assassin , everyone who follows you or accompanies you on a mission regardless of who they are all have the same incredible free running abilities. :lol

I forgot to mention earlier , I love the soundtrack to this. In regards to the story I've always found the AC story line a bit far fetched and corny for my liking so I just try my best to take in what I can and enjoy the gameplay. :lol

And another thing that frustrated me several times during this game were the chase sequences where the target could outrun Connor!!!!??? He's this super-assassin-ninja that can climb buildings and crap, but he can't catch average people without breaking a sweat??

Sometimes you just got to start fresh :lol I also noticed that during hat chase scene it wasn't rare that Hickey would actually run into citizens as well and that often slowed him down.

That's funny I noticed the opposite. Like when Haytham was following Connor he couldn't go up in the trees, or when that random girl who hunts on the homestead was following me she actually fell off the first branch she tried to get on. :lol

Speed and agility are two separate things. Connor's bigger, heavier and bulkier than Altair or Ezio, and I think it's noticeable. Also, you are chasing veteran soldiers and a Templar, so I don't think it's as if Connor was chasing nobles like in the previous ones.

:exactly:

The game bar has been raised, also haven't you guys tried to catch couriers in AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations?? They were also quick enough to outrun you.

Here are my ACIII - Freedom Edition unboxing photos. This set is simply amazing and recomended to any Assassin Fans.

The Stellbook featuring Alex Ross artwork both on the front and on the back side, George Washington's journal, and on the right inside the ACIII envolope you get two exclusive lithographs based on the concept arts of the game.

The highly detailed Connor Figure. :rock

I can't help myself getting more pictues, the figure is really a blast.

Special Thnx to Bib Fortuna

I got the statue as well. It looks stunning and so worth the price you end up paying for it. It looks like a high end collectible. I got him next to my Ezio statue from Brotherhood that cost me 40 bucks last year and he makes him look of crappy quality.

I still haven't played the first Assassin's Creed. Think about giving it a try to see if I like it.

Just keep in mind that the first game is really the beta. Thinking it is average is not really indicitative of the rest.

If you want the complete experience then its important to start there but the first GREAT game is AC2. Its a big leap between the two games (and then Brotherhood approves it all again....)

Thanks man. Saw the first two on sale for a real good price, so I'll buy them both and give the series a try. I haven't played video games in years and seeing my son play them has given me back the video game bug. :lol

Nice!
"But this is father/son time, honey. It's important"

:D

I just finished the main story. Overall, for my first AC game I have to say I liked it quite a bit.

I wonder if it's worth it to go back to ACI or just jump to ACII which seems to be highly acclaimed?

Nice! How much did you get it for? Too bad HT is not really into their own VGM line and only RE from that. :(
I woulda like another Ezio.

I was going to start a new thread, but let's try it here. Rank the three assassin's and what do you like and dislike?
