Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

:lol:lol

A better question is how the hell did past Thanos get to 2023 without one of those GPS watches that Tony Stark created to time travel. :lol You can't time travel without them.:slap

It was implied they reverse-engineered the tech when evil Nebula handed over the goods to Thanos just before she went back. It could have been hours or days before she jumped back to 2023 to join the Avengers. If Tony Stark can figure things out in one night, Thanos' minions probably can too given how advanced their tech is. Also, Rocket makes it a point that Stark is "only a genius on Earth" implying there are just as many smart minds in the universe.

Just got back from my third screening and regarding that Nat+Clint pairing, I'm convinced now that Nebula was the one to pair them up. She mentions that the coordinates to Vormir have been set and all Nat and Barton have to do is "not fall-out". She also gives a long knowing stare at them as they leave.

Also, bringing 2 5-year-old boys, one who's watched it and one who hasn't probably wasn't the best idea. I really feel bad for the viewers around us lol....

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It's still better than Forever and Batman Robin and TDKR.

I saw it recently, and it hasn't age well. It's kind of boring and the novelty of being different from the previews Batman films is kind of...gone now. The villains sucked too. Scarecrow was underused and turned into a joke. Ras doesn't show up until the very end and he's totally forgettable. The overall acting is better than previous Batman films tho. Katie Holmes is bad in it...but she's not as annoying as Kim Basinger was in 89. The action sequences suck, and the highlight of the film is in the second act with the car chase. Best part of the film is Bruce's training, his intro as Batman, and the car chase. All which are surpassed by both TDK and TDKR. Cap the first avenger and Batman have a lot in common, now that I think about it.

I liked most of BB but I couldn't get over the microwave emitter McGuffin. How can it heat the water in the pipes below and around Gotham without cooking the people around it? Ras' plan to bring down Gotham was really over-complicated and relied on a lot of suspension of disbelief.

I did like the Batman training scenes like you did. Also the montage on how they built his costume was great. TDKR I did not like as much as TDK. TDKR has one of the most unbelievable acts of chiropractics I've ever seen. Talia's death also looked stupid. She died while Gordon survived... Really?!?

Not only that, but they were contaminating the water in Gotham for weeks, that's why they needed the a microwave to vaporize the water, because the toxic could only be inhaled. However, does no one in Gotham boil water or takes hot showers? :lol

Wasn't that device only so that you could ensure that you returned to your own timeline instead of, I dunno, the future of that new branch timeline? I can't remember.

I never took that line to mean anything other than her making a comment on how two earth people were taking a spaceship by themselves to another planet. Neither Hawkeye or Widow could pilot the ship themselves or knew where they were going, so of course someone that knew what to do had to set coordinates.

I don't think there's any reason to believe Nebula understood the details of how Thanos got the stone - it's more likely that she assumed Gamora tried to stop him from getting it or take it from him and put up a fight and he was "forced" to kill her. She knew Gamora didn't want him getting that stone.

There's no reason to believe Nebula would know about the soul for a soul sacrifice.

The device was needed to ensure you travelled through time, and not time travelling through you. Also it seems the device allowed for travel from one point to another but the time tunneling machine was required for you to travel back to your time.

.

But Thanos wasn't wearing it, so even if implied that he got one made, shouldn't he be wearing it at some point to show that it was made off screen by him or his minions?

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Memento and Prestige weren't big enough tho. Interstellar made more money than BB, but I dont think it's that memorable, is it? BB is only memorable because it's Batman, not because it's a great movie. It's just ok.

I agree with respect to Memento & Prestige. As for Interstellar, I find it more rewatchable than Inception, so IMO it should count.

Agreed. As for Nebula's long knowing stare, I imagined she was thinking "I'm probably going to have to go save those two". :lol

Or they built the tech right into the ship, that way everyone on board went along for the ride. He wasn't wearing a quantum suit either, but that's what he travelled through to get to 2023. The ship arrived, THEN he beamed down to earth.

I think she had a hunch after Thanos said"he had to" kill Gamora in Vormir.

I think there is a lot of subtext to glean off how the characters acted just before parting ways in Morag. Everyone was upbeat while seemed to focus more on Romanov and Barton. Plus that line she gives, punctuated by a pause before turning around to their quest to track Quill.

When they were splitting the teams up, I'm sure the assignments weren't random. Each member had a unique ability that they needed to get the stones. Ant-Man was needed to grab the Tesseract with Tony to guide him and provide reconnaissance while Cap was needed to fool the Hydra agents. Banner had been to the Sanctum so he can find his way around there and he already knew Strange. Thor was needed to navigate Asgard while Rocket could perform the extraction. Nebula was needed to remove the Stone from it's protective field. The only interchangeable piece of the heist was Rhodey.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I thought so. Didn't bad Nebula have it in her hand? She hacked the quantum "launch pad" controls to enlarge it, correct?

The screen on the tunneling machine said something like "Gateway active: source 2014" so the machine was used to bring the ship through.
