With regards to TWS, this was the first time I actually liked Cap as a character/hero. Maybe it's because I'm not American, but I was never a fan of him. I grew up thinking that this is a dorky guy dressed in a flag who threw a shield.

Whatever gave you that idea? Oh yeah...

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I'm never right about these things in advance, lol. I also made tons of posts whining about what stupid ideas it would be to make movies about stealing the Death Star plans or young Han Solo. But oh it is so sweet to be proven wrong. So I don't blame you for clutching your A1 and TIH discs and retreating into the night, lol.

I end up being wrong because I think something might be great. :(

PT
ST
Godzilla 2014
AOU (Because of how Hulk was used or not used)
Thor 3 (Because of how Hulk was used and not used)
EG (because hulk not even being in it)

I was pleasantly surprised by TWS though... I had feelings on that film before it came out. Figured it would be Thor level entertainment.

Back in the 80 I was wrong about thinking Robocop was going to be trash and Bruce Willis being a bad casting choice for Die Hard.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Yeah I definitely wasn't expecting anything out of Bruce Willis for Die Hard and I remember Entertainment Tonight doing a promo for RoboCop since their own host Leeza Gibbons was featured in the actual movie and they showed RoboCop telling kids at school to stay out of trouble which made it seem like a goofy comedy. Holy crap did that all end the moment ED-209 unloaded on poor Mr. Kinney in the boardroom, lol.

I saw it at the theater on my 13th birthday and the buddy I was with literally ran to the bathroom to vomit and then he spent the rest of the film standing in the doorway to the auditorium watching it from there in case he had to bolt again, lol.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Everyone thought Bruce Willis was a joke... but he taught us all.

Pity the role that changed people's perception of him for the better has been completely run into the ground and is now the Bruce Willis role where you again cannot take him seriously.

Why are you assuming that we've seen the end of the Hulk? I'm sure he'll continue to appear in many films down the road and I can't imagine that they'll keep him in his Professor form very long, especially once someone else takes over the part.

Uhhh. I think if they start recasting established main Avenger characters it will detract from the MCU. If Hulk stays on I hope Ruffalo stays on...and maybe gets to be serious again at some point.

Has that not happened to nearly every screen hero?

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Pretty amazing that Stallone's Rocky kind of became a joke and then he somehow brought him back around for three incredibly respectable films.

If only Arnold could do that.

Rambo was kind of the same. I actually liked the last one where he was a ferryman.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I bet Mel Gibson could pull off a really mean aged Max now. Given his recent history, it just adds to his Max.

Yeah, he'd take it seriously I think.

Does it make you sad? Do the sides of you mouth droop like Ahhnoods pecs?

It's like Arnold shooting me in the leg with each crap new Terminator film, I'll live but FFS stop shooting me.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Did you have a bad first experience or was it just too much to fully process?

I think I started experiencing pre-post-partum about 2/3 through the first time. I walked out nonplussed/negative. Second time I appreciated the closures/setups and frankly mind-boggling imagery (Val on unicorn panning to Giant Man in motion felt Alex Ross on shrooms).

Trying to remember, what was Spider-man swinging on again at that last image? :lol

I'm off to my third viewing with my wife and son in a few hours.
