Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I'll take big and plastic over small and metal.

1/6 autoart type Batmobile would be $700 just to ship, no thanks.

The size of this Batmobile is what will impress.

I'm really really suprised that since SS is shipping out the soon as the 16th we haven't had any blogger pictures or offical hot toys pictures of this final product with lights, shields and interior lights yet.. I thought for sure we would get them Friday night/Saturday morning....but instead we got monsters university and jor-el(not complaining about jor-el) I'm dying to see this with the lights on!!!

Given how large and expensive this is, maybe they won't be handing any out to bloggers?

How did Hot Toys fabricate the Cocoon shields? Is t solid rigid plastic or that flimsy brittle stuff the old Toy Biz Batmobile Cocoon used? Anyone expect this to be released again down the road for Batman Returns? It did have a much darker tone and blacker wheels in that film and the new version can sport the pull out engine. Heck, lets see the Batmissle? That should be half the cost of the Batmobile. Make that Howard!

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

If CMC or Autorart signature "80% DIECAST", make a Batmobile, would be a real piece of art,

Hot Toys model is fine, but its manufacture in 80% plastic. And does not reach the level of detail for their size.

Some things are best left where they are applicable. Already the shipping on this thing costs another 1/6 figure while being mostly plastic. Also, we haven't seen enough pictures yet to piss on HT's level of detail this early. To further contradict your wish, making it more diecast would make the details less sharp as well, it might end up all weight.

Other than that, a 1/6 die-cast 1989 Batmobile would give more collectors problems as far as display options are concerned, as shelves need to be stronger, etc. Paint chipping overtime would definitely be another issue. Bottomline is not all that is heavy is gold.

My gut says the shield won't be that super thin flimsy stuff. I don't think it will be rock solid, but maybe a happy medium.

Most of your questions can be answered with "no one really knows yet at the moment".

This car however seems to be a mix of both 89 and Returns Batmobile. I'd love a Batmissile, but not if HT would make where you have to buy another whole version of the car. I think they'd leave those type of 'spring-out action" to Mattel, though. A release similar to Bat-pod would be nice :)

I don't mind that it's not die-cast, but I wish HT has Autoart level of interior detailing (and some more work on the exterior's nook and crannies). The Tumbler was piss-poor, I would never display that open.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

What was wrong with the Tumbler? The whole vehicle was poor or just the interior? I heard its exterior is a dusting nightmare ...

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Just talking about the interior.

Some minor quips about the exterior, areas you can barely see.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I agree with him there. Inside the car they only detailed what absolutely needed to be detailed. The rest they just treated as empty plastic space with no more detail than Hasbro might put in a Star Wars vehicle.

Agree with the Tumbler interiors. Didn't like how the wirings were done too, like HT thought "no one's going to display this with cockpit open, I guess".

1989 BM's interiors should not be haphazardly done. We deserve it, after getting $700+ poorer and more than a year older waiting for this.

The pics of the interior of the Batmobile look fine. What's everyone worried about?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I just think it'll look a bit plasticky and cheap even if it has more detail than Tumbler. If you look at Autoart models, their interior details are leagues more sophisticated (and cost hundreds upon hundreds less).

My personal take as well is that it will look plasticky... Its too big with minimalistic details. I know they will do a wonderful job with the interiors but for 700 dollars i wld prefer something that with a remote... Opens and closes the cockpit, starts the dashboard light and gives me some sound of the engine turnover... Its way too expensive for the details it carries and i think cost is just per sq inch of plastic... Sorry guys i like it but size and cost are not married to the details... Just my personal openion. Dont shoot arrows pls :)
