I got mine yesterday. 100% perfect condition. Really feeling for those who got a damaged one. I was nervous as hell opening mine up... so excited to finally get this after such a long wait... but wondering what problems I might find inside the package.

Looks great in its new home - a built-in-the-wall display that I started working on as soon as this was announced a couple of years ago.

An absolute jaw dropping addition to the collection.

And this looks like is been opened.

Where did you get yours from? I'm was afraid SSC might repackage some of the damaged ones that got send back as new, if they do, there will be hell!

I picked up my Batmobile yesterday. Thankfully, it's perfect and has no scuffs or glue marks at all. I consider myself very lucky.

It does seem unfair that Hot Toys are not re-imbursing those who have been affected by their faults nor have they even issued an apolgy on their website! :( and those who are being refunded are only recieving credits of $50-75 (which is what you'd pay these days to go to your local cinema or on a night out!) just doesnt seem like a logical credit after spending nearly $700!! :horror i mean c'mon, that credit doesnt even cover the shipping costs!!

Yeah, this is starting to seem really unfair...

I was comfortable taking a $75 credit for just the scuffs when I knew that the only alternative was sending it back, buying another, and having a really good chance of getting another scratched one (perhaps worse than my current one).

To hear now though that they fixed the issue, and that the next batch should all be good really just sticks it to the people who bought theirs early.... Especially when Sideshow is telling people that they can't secure stock for an exchange, but yet will be selling that new batch on their site.

This is a customer service nightmare.

What's disturbing about the factory damage explanation is the fact that they knowingly placed damaged products into the box for shipping.

Apparently Hot Toys were not aware of the QC issues until Sideshow had explained to them that most of our Batmobiles had marks...

HT must be blind not to have seen these marks when packaging these up. Or they just didn't ****ing care. :slap

You have to ask yourself how good is the quality of the QC team at the factories? Are there a group of guys who go around the factory checking one out of every 10 Batmobiles? Maybe the marks weren't so noticeable in the light of the factory? To be honest my mark I have on mine can only be seen if a bright light is shined on it...your guess is as good as mine

Judging by most of the pictures I've seen of factory workers, I doubt there is much QC. Looks like a bunch of men and women sitting on stools hunched over tables full of parts and paints. :lol

Exactly! If it weren't for the marks (caused by this vice-like machine) then the car would have arrived perfect and so many of us would be very happy! This unfortunately happens in life, not that it's right. There should be some form of heavy compensation or at least have our cars replaced with ones that are mint! It's only fair. I feel bad for those who have accepted the refund or just felt that they had to put up with the marks...Hot Toys really have a lot to answer too. I understand there was also QC issues with the Tumbler??? Seems like these larger Collectibles that they produce cause them the most grief!

Just e-mailed Sideshow to ask again why we can't exchange the damaged ones... Especially if they now have fixed the issue and are actively selling them on their site.

My Batmobile couldn't have arrived in better condition. The packaging was perfect and the boxes were completely untouched. Even once I had removed all the Styrofoam I couldn't see any marks. It was until the morning after that I proper scrutinised my Batmobile after hearing all the issues that I noticed a small mark and I was also one of the unlucky ones to get glue on the circled window...

Everything looked perfect upon first inspection

Then I found the one and only mark on the car which you can see just past the circled window

And the dreaded glue residue was also there after I peeled off the film

Like I said earlier, I've got a replacement Batmobile from one of the new batches arriving to the SSC warehouse next week so fingers crossed I can get a perfect car!

I cant see them agreeing to it Sallah. Especially not after already issueing out credits to those who agreed to it. If they start sending replacements it will create havoc on the forum and also Sideshow will get inundated with complaints because those who already recieved their refund would then want to a replacement batmobile! :( On this occasion it looks like we've all been dealt a bad card!

It just sucks that many people's feelings on an absolutely INCREDIBLE piece are being dampened by Sideshow's method of handling the QC issue. :(

:exactly: couldnt agree more pal. Unfortunately, it seems as though Sideshow are looking out for number one - themselves. Im sure they did not foresee this situation occurring and had the item been a PF or something smaller then the situation might have been different. I just think Sideshow hands are tied on this one due to the size and weight and cost of the Batmobile, not to mention the backlog of replacements that they'd have on their hands...However, i'd be interested to know what Sideshow have said to Hot Toys in regards to this fiasco. I wonder if Hot Toys have issued any credit to Sideshow? As sideshow issue out all these credits to disgruntled owners of the Batmobile, who is crediting Sideshow? :dunno

I wonder if this was built at the same factory that put together the Tumbler. That was a chaotic looking place.Interesting now I think about it that photo the only time we ve ever seen a Hot Toys item being manufactured.(page 275 post # 2747 of the locked Tumbler thread)

Yeah, it is a sticky situation... On the credit side though, SS definitely isn't taking a loss on the Batmobile. They are still making a profit, even with the $75 credit. The discount they offer their wholesale vendors alone on the Batmobile is much more than that, and they are making money even on those sales.

In a situation like this, where you are basically forcing folks into a "damaged or nothing" situation, all the while selling new mint versions to current customers... SS needs to push the profit margin aside on the scratched up Batmobiles and offer a "real" credit instead of still being concerned with making money on those cars.

I think there is plenty of blame to spread around between both Sideshow and Hot Toys on this issue. SS gets their share for terribly handing the refund/exchange part of this situation and HT for the horrible QC in their factories. Sadly, this isn't the first big ticket item to be marred by bad paintwork or poor packing from China(Iron Man Mark III bust, MR Vader helmet, eFx Vader helmet, etc.) and it certainly won't be the last. The people in these factories are probably being paid about 20 cents an hour and honestly they could care less about how these things arrive to the customer. I think that's why this 1/6 Batmobile will be my last big mass produced piece. I've found that having custom builds done by talented prop makers is really the way to go as they will pay much more attention to detail than a bunch of underpaid workers in a factory. I love some of the pieces I have from SS and HT, but I think I'm pretty much done with buying their items from here on out. :(

They should...but they wont! It is infuriating when you put it like that. Customer satisfaction should always come first and there's quite a few unsatisfied ones for sure!

Still, if we are being honest...despite Sideshow's terrible handling of this situation, i doubt they will lose customers. For some collectors, Sideshow are still the best around at what they do and will always continue to use them...
