They should...but they wont! It is infuriating when you put it like that. Customer satisfaction should always come first and there's quite a few unsatisfied ones for sure!

Still, if we are being honest...despite Sideshow's terrible handling of this situation, i doubt they will lose customers. For some collectors, Sideshow are still the best around at what they do and will always continue to use them...

Well, I am definitely looking twice at what I have on order from them... some of the things that I was going to get before will probably get cancelled now- If for nothing else than to make me feel like I took a stand against some bad business.

Orders with a NRD or that used points will stay. Everything else is on the chopping block. If I still want it, I can order it elsewhere cheaper. The biggest draw for SS for me was their excellent customer service, so I was willing to pay a bit more. With the Batmobile, I was not only given the runaround on processing my order, but I also have this scratch fiasco.... which overall gives me a negative view of the current customer service. Take away the benefit of good customer service, and going some place cheaper makes complete sense now. :)

My Batmobile couldn't have arrived in better condition. The packaging was perfect and the boxes were completely untouched. Even once I had removed all the Styrofoam I couldn't see any marks. It was until the morning after that I proper scrutinised my Batmobile after hearing all the issues that I noticed a small mark and I was also one of the unlucky ones to get glue on the circled window...

Why do nt you contact Forbidden Planet in London, they might buy it from you to use as a display model. They wo nt have these in stock yet it d drum up some interest.

I think there is plenty of blame to spread around between both Sideshow and Hot Toys on this issue. SS gets their share for terribly handing the refund/exchange part of this situation and HT for the horrible QC in their factories. Sadly, this isn't the first big ticket item to be marred by bad paintwork or poor packing from China(Iron Man Mark III bust, MR Vader helmet, eFx Vader helmet, etc.) and it certainly won't be the last. The people in these factories are probably being paid about 20 cents an hour and honestly they could care less about how these things arrive to the customer. I think that's why this 1/6 Batmobile will be my last big mass produced piece. I've found that having custom builds done by talented prop makers is really the way to go as they will pay much more attention to detail than a bunch of underpaid workers in a factory. I love some of the pieces I have from SS and HT, but I think I'm pretty much done with buying their items from here on out. :(

i completely understand your fustration guys. I often say the same thing to myself and then they put up a piece that drags me back in again! Then i've built up a good number of reward points too! Living in London, if i was to order locally, i'd have to wait an eternity to recieve my items, one thing i love about Sideshow is that they are bloody fast with delivery!

Apart from this situation, Sideshows customer service has been relatively good for me :dunno

Yup, the Tumbler was the last thing I officially ordered from SS around 8 months ago and that was only because I had a lot of Reward Points I needed to use. Like I said, in the future I'll probably be moving away from SS and HT completely on big items like these unless it's something I just can't live without and in that case I'll buy from Alter Ego, Secret Compass, BBTS, etc. :wink1:

Interesting and quite happy if they do pick it up. Beats the heck of out me having to drop it off at a UPS.

"Sideshow just notified me this morning that they have an agent who will be in your area today and can pick up the Batmobile. Please let me know if that's possible, or if you have any questions. "

Well good news is he'll be here within an hour to pick it up and then I'll be given back my $650 today. :clap At least they're offering to pick it up instead of making me drag it back to a postal office.

Wow Hologram, thats quick! So you happn to live near SS?
I'm actually in NY. :panic: I live across the country from them but a agent is in the area today so they offered to pick it up. Once he reports back to Sideshow, they'll notify Josh from AE and I'll be given back my refund. :clap

Have they said that your $650 will for sure be refunded back today? I opted for the $100 refund from AE and keeping mine since the damage isn't that bad and Alex said he would let me know when it has been processed. No word on how long it was actually going to take.

Josh said

"Yes, they're picking up the whole package, Sideshow just called, they agent should be there in roughly an hour. Once he's picked it up and checked back in with Sideshow, they'll issue the credit and notify us and we'll refund your full charge. My guess would be we'll issue it less than 24 hours from when he picks it up, but how long it takes to show up on the card varies form company to company. It shouldn't be more than a few business days, I'd imagine. If you have any questions, just let me know."

I stopped trying to talk it out with Alex since he kept trying to throw a partial refund in my face. I expressed my frustration to Josh and he handled it very nicely.

I've had contact with both guys and ultimately I went with the $100 refund since my damage isn't that bad and it would cost me a lot more than I paid through them to buy a new one from either SS or BBTS. I'm just wondering how long it will take for them to process the refund back to my card. I'm guessing it will be longer than a day.

Due to your posts, I contacted my vendor again and he pushed back on SSC and they offered an $80 credit instead of $50. I would pay a little over vendor cost. At this point, if I returned it, I would be paying $180 more to pick one up from my LCS scratch free.

I can only see my scuffs under certain lighting. I'm starting to accept it, but I don't want to keep it because of how Hot Toys / Sideshow handled this mess.

Just to put it out there, CornerstoreComics has these in stock for local pickup only. Worth it as Ive yet to hear of one being damaged.

Hard to imagine every local pickup being damage free is purely coincidental; I'm still of the mindset that these are getting damaged in shipping when heavy boxes get stacked on top (or the box itself is shipped upside down), causing the shield to press down over the car and scratch the canopy. My box was in pristine condition - the top of it even bulging noticeably upward. As a result, my batmobile was unscratched.

He just picked up and left 5 minutes ago. Waiting for Josh to let me inform me when they send my refund.

That's a load off my back. :chillpill:

Are you going to buy a replacement? Honestly, if someone came to pick this piece up and take it away from me right now I think it would be like letting go of a child. :lol

Nope I'm sticking with a full refund. I don't have the space to display it with justice and I don't want to take a chance on getting another one. The refund will go towards other figures that are coming out.

And it was hard to let it go. He asked me how it looks since he didn't get his yet and if I was sure I wanted to let something like this go. :lol

I'm quite content with not having it. I'm happy enough that I had the chance to at least have it within my possession for the past week.

I am still in a waiting game with SS... With both the scratches and the box damage, I have to give it serious thought before accepting a $75 credit and having no recourse if I find something else wrong.

At the same time... Taking the full refund and having to box this baby up would almost be painful. :( It isn't the Batmobile's fault it's scratched... It just wants to stay home and be loved. :peace
