Up till now Obi-Wan hiding on Tatooine made perfect sense because it was the one place in the galaxy Vader/the Empire would never go. Up till now.

His failure is even more complete than it was before!
(The panel above makes more sense; Vader didn't return to Tatooine until he found out about Luke.)
I didn't really mind them ruining Boba cos he was always a fringe character (albeit massively popular), but when you start messing with the central elements of the saga...
Personally I'd argue TCW did damage already, so I've given up on character consistency. But there's a difference between toning something down a notch, and potentially breaking the narrative. We'll see. Still, even they have to be smart enough to know that you can't mess with Vader that much. He's the face of the brand, period. Even Fallen Order didn't go that far. They just had that ex-Jedi Master of the MC use enough Force to make Vader kneel for a second. Which is still pretty stupid, but what can you do.
Really, the DisCanon just entirely broke the narrative and removed all the stakes. And that's ultimately the problem. But the cracks started showing with the Filloni era, so it's not just Disney and their soulless products. Lucas is to be blamed for quite a bit as well. But mostly FiIloni. His hardon for his OC is ridiculous at this point. I didn't much care for his worldbuilding and changes anyhow. I still cannot reconcile his Anakin and Movie Anakin. I much prefer Pre-TCW SW...
Ah, whatever. I've pretty much settled now that I really will be sticking with just the old EU. There's just nothing I see here that improves on it. These will be AU tales for me. If these copies of the EU (which is what the entirety of the DisCanon has been thus far) turn out to be cool and give me some good dollies, I'll be "happy". But in a way I like having a SW that's "complete" with the "finished" EU. I'm tired of trying to follow a MultiMedia Franchise. It's just too much ******* hassle for little reward... Although, let's be real. I'm a completionist masochist, I'll continue consooooming because I'm weak and have a c to rant.
Funny thing is, as time went on I grew to somewhat enjoy the High Republic. It's still a soulless cashgrab riff on the Old Republic and also completely creatively bankrupt, but it's got some neat aesthetics. Don't get me wrong, the comics themselves are still by-the-numbers and boring, but I find the outfits really neat. I'd buy a figure of the main Zelda Jedi (Avar Kriss). She looks cool.
I really find the robes in general pretty slick. Obvious EU vibes, but it works.
See, that's the problem. If Disney tried to do literally anything beyond the same exact boring stuff we've seen 20 times already, then people would be more excited. It's a Billion-Dollar Corporation and it can't match the makeup and effects of a movie from 2005... Obi-Wan should've gotten a compact 2-hr movie and that should've been it. But they're just milking the brand, nothing more. They have no plan beyond a vague awareness of the EU's highs and a need to destroy that by ripping it off and passing their "better" version to the GA.
I've read some rumours/seen some logos and apparently a "Tales of The Jedi" project is underway, so there's that. And then there's that show "The Acolyte", but I have literally no idea how that will work with the already established lore of Sheev and the canonicity of Plagueis. But we'll see.
I've also heard some supposed teases from both Witwer & McDiarmid concernig Kenobi, so maybe Palpatine/Sidious will appear in some capacity. I'll try not get too hyped though. I still hold out hope that one day they'll bring in Starkiller & Mara Jade. But Luke's destined to die a virgin hermit, so what'd be the point? Although, if Luke can't be with Mara, then maybe they could rework her arc and romance instead with Galen. Skip Juno and pair them. It wouldn't be the same at all, but it'd be better than nothing. I'd rather Luke remain a detached Jedi autist at this point since he's destined to lose it all, rather than have him experience such highs and end up at such a low point.
Why is fanart always so much better than the product itself? Why can't they just care, even a little bit?
He deserved better...
Someday I will be. I will be the most powerful God Emperor ever. I will even learn to stop franchises from dying (from a lack of soul)!
Star Trek, too....lest we forget.

They're throwing casual f-bombs in Star Trek now? Jesus.
