Two sucked, they better of stayed away from that kind of story. This one looks pretty decent. Nothing will top the first though.:lecture

The approach was just so much different than the first film. I still liked it though.

2 took a chance. It gets points for that. No matter what silly people say

Thank you. I prefer 2 personally, I find the mythology of their Heavy Metal Magazine style badass pulp sci-fi universe really fun so it was cool to see it explored. I hope they sneak some of that into the new one too but I'll take whatever Riddick we can get.

And it failed, the studio had to much input.

The new Riddick is a small budget (38 mil) Indie film basically, not funded by a studio. The character and franchise is now owned by Vin and Towhy, so this is their version, and it looks sweet.

Vin has already said another movie is in the works. He said he always considered "Pitch Black" an intro, and a trilogy following that. Looks like that's what we will get.:yess:

I like Chronicles. I don't love it. But I appreciate what it did. Weather it succeeded or not is irrelevant. It had a bold idea, and went for it. I'll give any movie credit for that.

I disagree ( at least with the first part of your post ) , although "Chronicles.." failed to find an audience , it was a brave attempt to make a S.F film which was unashamedly that and not a comedy/action/western DISGUISED as S.F , like most of todays blockbusters . Yes it was big , overblown and more than a little pompous , but it was like an S.F novel put on the screen.

Caught this yesterday afternoon, very enjoyable! Much closer to the quality of Pitch Black.

I'll have to check this out at the cinema , I'm hoping it does fairly decent at the box office , not looking great so far.

Did anyone tell Vin Diesal he can't act? And now they are making a third? Hollywood must be running out of ideas.

Thought it was great! The first third of the film was by far the best, and the last third was great. The middle was ok. Not bad, just nowhere near the beginning and end. Really felt like a rehash of Part 1 though, but with better production values.

Not a fan of Batista (or Dave Bautista) in movies, but they gave him one of the best lines. Katie Sackoff was fantastic. Most of the other actors were generic. Diesel was great, although some of his lines were a bit cheesy.

Overall, dumb but fun. this and Pacific Rim were the best films of the summer. Definite blu-ray purchase.

I loved this movie. I went in expecting it to be a carbon copy of Pitch Black, but it was new and refreshing enough to stand on its own merit. This is just a really fun movie. Not really thought provoking. Just action and one-liners and monsters. I go to the movies for stuff like this. Pure fun. I'm really hoping this movie does pretty well. I'd love to see them do another one.
Riddick still needs to get kill Vaako.
