the only problem I find with this statue is the white light saber. As others have said 99% of the time it will be displayed with lights off. Vader with a white light saber, seriously? :slap

I can understand it if the tech is not there say 20 years ago, but now this can be easily accomplished especially on a 2k statue to have red light saber even when not powered on. Why CM chose to go this route with a white saber is beyond any understanding..

Can someone take a pic of the light saber part, I wonder if one can commission a custom part to replace it.

This is because CM is using a more expensive fluorescent technology (i.e. gas-discharge lamp that uses electricity to excite mercury vapor) rather than cheap LED lighting. The problem with the red tubes / cheap LED lighting is that the entire saber is not evenly lit when switched on. Just look at SS pieces which use the cheap LED lighting (i.e. the vader PF, etc) - the base and tip of the saber is brighter than the middle section and this is definately NOT the way a saber should be lit. If you want this effect, get a torch light.

The fluorescent saber which CM used is not only a lot more expensive, but it ensures that the entire saber is evenly illuminated. For a $2k piece, I would expect a fluorescent saber to be used, not cheap LED lighting.

Very good info. Thanks. :goodpost:

Good point, but again, when the thing if off 99% of the time I'd personally prefer a red saber.

I agree that life-size is not for everyone. There are some reasons for that: limited display space, restricted budget, etc. I also cannot get all the life-size items I'd like to have, but still I think they are way more impressive than any scaled item.

Agree 100%.

You're the man, Raf. Great unboxing! The piece looks amazing. Id put this up there with CMs best and probably the nicest himan CM to date. Really strange design flaw with the cape though. It doesn't look like there's any possible way to make that fit properly with how small the chain and collar is. Other than that, I love it.

Nice ringtone BTW hehe.

As for the bob haircut , these pics show its pretty spot on

The Cyber Darth Maul PF's sabre has a florescent light up and is red...it's also 1/6 of the price :monkey1

I don't own the cyber darth maul PF but I'm not sure if its true florescent technology (i.e. consisting of separate inner and outer glass tubes) but obviously you can't compare a 1/5-1/4 scale piece with a 1/3 scale piece. That, and the materials used in a CM vs SS piece are totally different. Hence, the higher cost.

All power to you if you have the same satisfaction owning the Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs as opposed to the CM Vader.

that's a lot of fancy terms over nothing, last i checked quality led cost many times more than fluorescent and they could simply lined up more leds to have an even distribution of glow. CM's official product page also states "the Darth Vader Cinemaquette features an LED illuminated chestplate and lightsaber"

Nitpickers...gotta love 'em.

$2500 deserves plenty of nitpicking.

You guys can justify it all you want but the proof is in the photos:
Star Wars
Empire
Jedi
In all different versions below it virtually sits on his shoulders and right on top of his eyes.

Yea all this nitpicking, i gotta say the helmet overall looks way better then the SSC Vader bust, the Shaw sculpt i'd say is par for both.

Still the price for this statue is dirty.

This thing looks sweet as hell....couple of flaws...I went back through the thread and no one complained about the lightsaber being white then, now the lightsaber is a problem.......I will purchase the SSC LSF version also because I love Darth Vader....This thing cost 2500.00 for those who live in Cali......I paid 2K shipped.......If you dont plan to spend cash on this why complain about it. Seem like 1000 people wanted it and according to CM more than 1000 are on the wait list, so im glad i scored one.

Not sure if RRJ (or other CM collectors) has other Star Wars statues or he only collects CM. Thus if you guys like it so much, if you feel this is the Darth Vader you want to own, if you like everything about it, if you consider it the ultimate Vader collectible etc., great for you, but then you don't need to be offended by the "nitpickers". This is Star Wars, and when talking about Star Wars there is a lot of discussing going all the time, about anything and everything Star Wars. Learn to live with that! ;)
