CIV McQuarrie Luke @ Hasbro Toy Shop

Well, I sent them an email telling them I ordered it without the code and asked if I could alter my order to use it. They emailed me back and said they canceled my order and told me to order again using the code... so somebody there thought it was ok.

Ya, the one whose income won't change a bit whether or not the code is honored, only the penny pinchers and their jags will screw people on this one. Though, it is odd that the code was known underground so to speak, the Hasbro Toy Shop newsletter said nothing of it.

No one will be charged for a few more weeks, they're not shipping until 6/11.

But when the figure went up the second time, it was listed as "Ships within 1-2 business days", so I wonder which one is accurate...

I would wager the 6/11, they're probably not stocked and were more concerned about getting the CIV versions in time for the show. Now, here's to hoping for a slipup and a CIV stick version coming by accident

You're probably right about that theory.

Oh well, I ordered the droids from Toyrocket, so those will hold me over until Luke arrives. Plus, I'm hoping my string of good fortune keep going and I find the Concept Chewbacca soon as well.

Anyone know about this "as advertised" line?

Unfortunately, everyone pretty much was aware of the code through second hand knowledge, so it was a chain, the initial sharer of the code failed to read properly, and everyone else put faith in the validity of the shared information. It seemed odd to me to be able to get the figure that cheap when the CIV attendees paid what they did.

I would be as mad at the guy who shared the code as Hasbro, unfortunately the way the business world is, whatever release stated the code had verbiage to cover their asses, so more so, it was the failure of the person spreading the word to catch the fine print, but it is strange that companies have discount code shopping sites but no means of flagging if a product doesn't meet code criteria, they could have done an if then programming to say if Luke was in the cart, don't apply the code. I'm not sure why people are cancelling though, this is probably the best price you'll find for them, eBay and places will probably be fairly higher.

Habsro's wording is their problem. The code said no CIV exclusives. Fine. However, the McQuarrie Luke figures' page said nothing about it being a CIV exclusive figure. It looked just like the other McQuarrie figures. If Hasbro wants to get all technical, they are still the ones to blame and should honor the code. I think legally they have no right since they can't back up their reasoning. I have an invoice that says they are wrong. What if I never got the email because of a spam filter? That is just poor business. I know I won't order any more stuff from them unless it is absolutely necessary like another stupid McQuarrie exclusive. I'm going to give Hasblow a piece of my mind at SDCC. I know its just 8 bucks, but it is still the point of the thing. I know Sideshow would honor the code if it worked, and the item said nothing about being a convention exclusive and being against the code.

Hey I have a question about this. I had read here and I had thought that this figure was slightly different then the ones received at CIV? I will swallow my pride and will pay the extra $8.00 if it is the same one, but if it is in fact different then the one given out at the convention then I would want the coupon to apply. Seems pretty simple to me.

Has anyone been able to verify if this piece has the same sticker the the conventioners received?

I don't know, the only thing I know for certain is the image and text of the HTS product page mention nothing of CIV, so I would assume it's a standard version minus the sticker and backing, but without official word from Hasbro, we won't know until they start getting in hand after 6/11.

I'll grab an extra for you if I see it in my travels. I'm going to try hitting Dickson City this weekend and possibly Hazleton if I'm feeling adventurous with the gas tank.

Regardless having these McQ figures as exclusives is a real pain in the a**. It's bad enough trying to find them at retail let alone as a convention exclusive. Ah well. At least the droids are being offered through toyrocket.com, so no ebay for either of these.

Oh yeah, just missed the McQ Chewie too this morning at my Target - didn't get there early enough. Argh. If you don't arrive right at 8am forget it.

It worked for my 17-inch Darth Vader Cinemacast Figure but well see if I get an email for that as well.
