1. tyrannus held his own against yoda(who is regarded as one of the best)
2. he schooled kenobi twice and padawan anakin once.(only anakins anger was able to defeat him in ep3)
3. Mace beat palpatine(debatable) and had almost no problem against fett and was real good in the clone wars
4.Palpatine held his own against yoda.

Gotta take tyrannus if i was a betting man.

We never really got to see Mace go all out (except for the little bit in the stadium in Clones) so just from the movies I say Tyrannus wins.

I voted Dooku.

However, I wouldn't say he held is own against Yoda. He did take off and run. He got the best of Obi-Wan in EP2 but in Ep3 he did kick him I believe to knock him out of the way. I think Kenobi could take him as he did get the best of Anakin in Ep3.

I thought he did hold his own,and thought his objective was to get away more than defeat yoda.(even so he coulda been killed very fast by yoda who knows if it went on any longer he may have...or not.:emperor

I think in straight saber combat Windu would trump Dooku easily. I think Dooku's strength comes from his other use of the Force. Dooku would prolly win over all, but I dunno, I think Mace would give him a run for his money and by no means would he be beaten hands down.

As much as I like Dooku, I would say Mace would win. Dooku held his own against Yoda, but saw he could not keep it up and cut and ran.

Mace, easy. He took out Sidious, who held out against Yoda just as did Dooku. Obviously Sidious has to be stronger than Tyrannus or I'm sure Dooku would have taken over long ago. He had Sidious nailed and would have saved the galaxy and destroyed the Sith--if it hadn't been for stupid ol' Anakin!

read the book "Shatterpoint" you'll have a new respect for Mace Windu's abilities. also, mace would win in a real fight. his fighting style wouldn't allow dooku to use lightning very much.

Though he might be old, I voted for Christopher F'n Lee. The guy has had more onscreen swordfights than any actor so his technique is more polished than Sammy J.

Mace is supposed to be one of the greatest ever with a saber. Sam certainly did not do a good job portraying that on screen. If we take EU into consideration, I go Mace.

There are no rules when it comes to a fight, only what you can or can't do. If Dooku knows Sith Lightning, it's within his power to use it and he'd be a fool not to.

I personaly love not knowing whether Palps let Mace win or not. It lets us geeks discuss and come up with our own conspiracy theories. One of the few things Lucas did a good job with on the PT.
