Palpatine let Mace win? How on Earth can that be? Those theories don't make any sense. Mace is as powerful with the Force as anybody, and he's a much more powerful swordsman than Palpatine was. The only reason Palpatine survived was ANAKIN. The story isn't really about Palpatine, it's about Vader, and how his choice not to remain in the temple, but instead to follow Mace, changed the course of the galaxy. Palpatine used him to save his life, and Anakin willingly, albeit wrongly, chose to listen to him all along. The dual was in Mace's hands, but Anakin made a choice, to the ruin of all. It's Anakin who made the difference, after Mace had already saved the galaxy. One little choice changed the future.

The story is also kind of about how Anakin was played by everyone.

Thats the thing about the PT and the whole Anakin prophecy. The Sith had one that said a chosen would would rise and destroy the Sith. The Jedi had one that said a chosen one would rise and bring balance to the force.

Fact is, both prophecies were true. In order to bring balance to the force, Anakin needed to destroy both the Sith and the Jedi. Both were weilding the force to their own advantage instead of just following the living force. Thats why Qui Gon was so cool, because he understood that. Hence he never made the counsel.

I agree. I don't go by the novels; Mace had Palpatine in his hands. Anakin made the wrong choice, otherwise Palpatine would have been done for.

Second later he blasts Mace windu with full on force lightning and throws mace out the Windu, hundreds of yards away while yelling (with some strength) UNLIMITED POWER!!!

Pretty clear to me, he could have thrown Mace's butt out pretty easy the whole time, he was just waiting to ensnare Anakin into doing something stupid.

He tried but it didn't work. He just wanted Anakin to make the move since he knew Mace wouldn't expect it. Anakin really did save Palpatine's life (all the more reason to hate the kid....).

Man, Palpatine FORCE THREW Mace! You think having your hands cut off means you are less focused in the force? no. Mace couldn't do anything about it. Mace couldn't beat Palps. Yoda couldn't beat Palps. Luke couldn't beat Palps. Only one person could do that, and that was the CHOSEN ONE. Anakin Skywalker. :emperor

If thats true then why would there have been a need for the "Chosen One"? If Mace could've offed Palps then why wasn't he the Chose One?

The whole point is noone could destroy Palpatine but Anakin. No one. To say otherwise completely negates the whole story.

There are many turning points in the prequels:
1. Qui-Gon defying the council to train Anakin,
2. Obiwan defying the council to train Anakin because of his promise to Quigon,
3. Padme and Anakin deciding to hide their love instead of Anakin just quitting the Jedi order (he wanted to have it both ways),
4. The Jedi Council not appreciating the one young jedi who may be the chosen one (they almost hold him in contempt never taking him and the prophecy too seriously besides all his talents and accomplishments). They deserved to be destroyed for their arrogance and stupidity. "Syfo Diass created this army? isn't he dead? oh well, it's convenient enough so we'll use these clones anyways."
5. Mace self-rightousness when handing down the justice on Palpatine. He sensed confusion on Anakin and ignored Anakin's feelings. He paid the price.
6. Anakin never questioning any part of the obvious conspiracy, deception and master plan of Sidious. It's OBVIOUS he is the bad guy so it makes Anakin an idiot. An idiot in love but still an idiot. The whole way Anakin's decent to the darkside was handled was lame. He says the Jedi are evil after killing a bunch of kids? THAT makes no sense.

Sidious could forsee things and was able to mask his presence in plain sight of a bunch of Jedis. He could sense Anakin was about to get smacked by Obi and turn extra crispy. Why wouldn't he sense Anakin was on his way to his chambers? Why wouldn't Sidious be playing Mace? is not that hard to believe IMO.

I don't think so. Mace defeating Palpatine had nothing to do with Anakin's being the chosen one. That's an independant victory. The concept of the chosen one meant that he would become more powerful, and Palpatine said to Yoda. Not that he already was. I don't see how he could have "faked" the loss.

The prophecy is true and only Anakin can kill Palpatine.

To me Palpatine, Yoda, Anakin, Dooku and Mace are in the same level of swordmastery, but Palpy and Yoda are most powerful overall due to theirs force mastery. Lucas himself confirmed this in a Premier Magazine article.

One of ILM’s greatest challenges was the lightsaber battle between Yoda and Darth Sidious, which will be intercut with the Anakin–Obi-Wan duel. “It was time to see the two toughest guys in the universe take each other on,” Lucas says.

So, would Mace defeat Palpy if Anakin hadn´t arrived? No. Mace and Palpatine came to a standoff during the lightning scenes and by faking being weak Palpatine killed two birds with one stone, he turned Anakin to the Dark Side and killed Mace. Palpy could have kept on shooting lightning to try to overpower Mace, but with Anakin there he changed tatics. He played Mace and Anakin and he won.

Mace is cooler. Plus he has the coolest lightsaber, (I can forgive the purple, but his hilt is the best out of all designs...)

But he was kind of blind. However, Dooku was blind to believe that Sidious wasn't using him, while evident in the movies, it's even worse in the books (and mainly the novelization of Ep3). Dooku would have lost to Yoda on Geonosis if it wasn't for his cheap trick making him save Obi-wan and Anakin so he could get in his ship and fly off.
