Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Trivia

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje did extensive research for Killer Croc, reading decades worth of material from the comics with the character.

He also observed actual crocodiles

and researched cannibalism.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Ok, saw the movie last night and did not think much of it. The action scenes were generic, the humor was mild with a few chuckles here and there. Joker was horrible! Leto is my least favorite portrayal of the character yet. There was always a point behind the Joker's actions, in the 60's it was to trump Batman, in 89 it was to cause mayhem, Ledger Joker was to bring the world to insanity, but Leto's version was just there acting weird, and doing stupid stuff. Didn't get it.
But my biggest problem with this movie and all the new DC films so far is that I just did not care about the characters or what happened to them. I didn't care in MOS if he beat Zod or not. I didn't care in BvS if Anything happened at all, and I didn't care in SS if they made it through the city. I did t know what's wrong with most movies now a days but so very few develop the characters in a way that interacts with the story.
There were three main things about the movie that just killed it for me.
1: when the soldiers were wheeling the squad out that main guard gave Harley a cell phone and basically yelled it out that the joker was coming for her. He did this in fron of at least twenty other soldiers and no one heard it or reacted to it? 2: Flagg had letters from Deadshot's daughter on him the whole time. If he was in a secret government facility how did she know where to send them? You would think they would have been returned to sender because her father was obviously not at whatever prison she thought he was. 3: Deadshot was set up as this hard killer who only wanted to see the best for his daughter. They even have a scene where he stares at a mannequin in clothes similar to what she was wearing when Batman captured him. Yet when the echo trees goes in his mind and gives him what he wants, Deadshot is killing batman. I know he's a killer. It's what he does and does it very well, but imo that destroyed everything about him that made him relatable as a character.
I hope DC gets it together with the writing and character development. So far the movies have been dark boring messes that reall have me wondering if I should even waste my time and money on them anymore. I've been a comic book fan for 40 years and feeling that I just did not care about seeing the characters that I have read about so long come to life really sucks. Why did t they let a comic book writer do one of these movies?
Also I saw the trailer for Wonder Woman during SS. Like so many other movies these days it looks pretty with nice fighting effects. But what is the story about? She's fighting German during WW1. Ok, why? I have a feeling that it's about her coming to "man's world" to get an ancient artifact that gives the user great power and the Germans have it. The evil German general uses it to unlock or unleash it and only Wonder Woman can stop it. I hope I'm wrong, but given that no plot was given during trailer who knows? Hey it looks pretty though.
SORRY FOR THE LONG POST!!!!

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

why the flying hell did they even need an on-set therapist?

wtf :lol:lol:lol Was that just for publicity? i cannot phantom why they would require someone like that for this movie :rotfl

they did not want him to go full ledger.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

PLEASE get a new actor! Leto looked like a cosplayer with bad teeth. I never took him seriously!

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Ryan Gosling would had been better because he would not have turned him into a getto thug or send his poor castmates used condoms or dead pigs :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Joker's obsessions in SS were certainly limited to just Harley but I kind of liked how the movie presented him as if we the audience were just getting a peek at him as in here is "a day in the life of Joker".

We weren't privy to his grand plan, no big speeches on how he ran his empire or how he was going to go after Batman or commit more crimes, it was just him on a mission for Harley, Batman and Society in general taking a back seat....for now.

Maybe he needs her, or more than likely is using her, for something bigger that he's planning for later on.

I also liked how he carried himself during the limited time he was utilized.

So yeah I can see why fans think he served no purpose, but for me he was concentrating on one mission, Harley.

Hopefully we see why he risked so much for her in a later movie.

Yeah, Leto went overboard for publicity I think. He probably thought this role would be some big breakout thing for him. Too bad the majority of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.

But that was a flash back scene, i'm really concentrating on how he was portrayed in the present during his Harley mission.

I was ok with him just being limited to rescuing Harley.

my point is that the flashback reinforces that he DOES care about her and rescuing her was not done because of a mission but because he loves her so much

I dont even have a problem with Joker's mission being only rescuing her, I dont even have a problem with joker loving her.

I just hate how ridiculous Leto Joker always looks and how silly that laugh was.

I wouldn't mind a joker obsessed with Harley just as long as he didn't look and acted like a Jugaloo

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Why didn't he kill the guy that was basically grinding on Harley why she was dancing? He gets a pass but the guy that gives him a compliment he kills.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

leto's joker laugh might actually be the worst joker laugh of all of them (including the games)
