like i need to hear your ebay power seller biased insight to a post that wasn't directed at you.

:lol Not a powerseller bub (no way in hell I'll give EbaY that much money). I'm just not a little cheap kid collecting toys that feels so entitled that the world should bow to his every whim. And it's sad and pathetic that you think this is only on par with a $40 figure from TRU. There's a reason he's fetching so much, he's badass:

Honestly bud, I'd just say you're butthurt about not owning one and not having enough greenbacks to pick one up so you do what all the little kiddies do, you try to trash talk it to make yourself feel better.

Hot Toys is in the business of high-end collectibles. That means lower production runs, limited quantities, etc. They're not a NECA, Mezco or McFarlane. If HT got in the habit of continually redoing old product, most wouldn't buy anything they released because eventually, there'd be a better version down the road. We're already seeing that with several posts in the Terminator thread. People really like the basic one, but a lot are holding out for the inevitable Gatling Gun version that's just down the road.
So you admit yourself that they are willing to re-release Terminator figures out the wazoo for profit--why does Aliens exist in a separate category? I agree that collectors are going to get turned off if they focus way too much on something (as I fear they may do with the Arnold Terminators), but revisiting a several year old license to release updated versions of a couple figures in high demand isn't going to turn their market against them. The updated OC Batman was welcomed for the most part because it was a nice improvement over a flawed original. I think figures like Hicks, Kyle Reese (from T1), Rocky, and Rambo could use similar updates, and would only garner minor complaints from those upset that their older investments aren't what they used to be.

Re-release? No. I never said that. They'll revisit T-1, but they'll give us a T-800 with an Arnold likeness (likely Tech Noir as they never made that version) and if we're lucky, a modern Kyle Reese (probably sans likeness)- figures they didn't/couldn't do in their first run at the license. I HIGHLY doubt we'll see a police station shoot-out update or a future Reese as both have been done already.

I meant re-releasing characters akin to the OC Bats or Arnold with battle damage, not direct re-releases of existing figures. Future Reese might be unlikely, but I'm hoping for (and would expect) a 1984 Reese if they got the likeness rights. As for Police Assault, if they get the T1 Arnold rights, I fully expect that version of him. Police Assault is the iconic Terminator look, previously released or no.

Don't hold your breath. Again, I don't think they'll reproduce a figure they already made. Batman, again, like Star Wars, cannot be compared to any other license. I can pretty much guarantee we'll see a Tech Noir Arnold and as I said earlier, an '84 Reese with bum clothes, trench, Nikes and sawed-off. Probably a bag of pipe bombs too.

I know it's likely lost, but I wouldn't mind a Sarah Connor either seeing as how she was the subject of the whole film.

Well, we shall see. I think it would be a real shame to never give us this:

Yeah, you can piece one together with the old outfit and a custom head (I had one myself for awhile), but it isn't the same. And this would be the single "money" figure from the new T1 line, should it actually come to pass.

I would love to see waitress or "party outfit" Sarah from T1, but can't imagine it happening.

The only way I think we'd see that is through some kind of, and I really hate using this term because of all the fanboy abuse, is if they forego a Tech Noir and just release a DX version (which the PERS would make sense due to the many scanning scenes) where they include a complete Tech Noir and a second battle damaged head, coat and guns for the police station shootout. Though if they're going all out, I also want a replaceable arm with battle damage too (like the T2 T-800).

If they were to only do Tech noir I'd still be damn happy as thats the one I happen to want first and foremost. In a way, despite the crappy head, police station shootout feels done and if there were to be only 1 T-800 made from T1 I'd rather it not be that one again.

Can anyone think of a reason they might not make a standard MMS of the Tech Noir T-800 with a second head to put on that older T-800? Any precedent for HT doing that? Bank Robber Joker kinda had that scenario.

That actually brings me back to the HT USCMs topic. Since I do have the older T-800 figure I personally don't require a full update of it and would be happy with just a new head and that other machine gun that really ought to have come with the figure. But of course, since I don't have the first 3 marines I'd be happy for a revisit there.

so you didn't think it was predictable to play the class warfare card when you were typing that?

calling a spade a spade isn't "trash talk". you just added your own value judgment to what i said and now you're lashing out and calling me names because i don't justify your behavior or placate your ego.

i've already said that i've owned these figures and got rid of them because i think they look like cheap toys.
it's very telling to see how defensive you get when the subject of scalping comes up here.

and seriously... why hasn't this topic been locked and deleted?
it's just another excuse for a flame war and doesn't contribute a damn thing.

:lol:rotfl:lol I still remember the insulting offer on the box of AVP snap kits. So I'd say my assessment was a bullseye. :lol

that's cool.
but instead of taking you seriously and correcting you... again. i've decided it's more constructive to respond with this.

Yeah, $50 for a MIB set of AVP Snap Kits with a 1:18 BAF Alien Queen. :rock:rock:rock:rolleyes: Considering they were $100 new, complete and still MIB (because I realized after I'd gotten them that I hadn't the room to display them nor the desire to assemble them), that was a ridiculous, entitlement offer. I only wanted what I paid and didn't mind hooking a freak up, but damn bub, that offer...

"cheap-cheap!"

To put this in perspective of just how loballed an offer this was, the whole lot parted out and sold for $250 on ebay.

i love that story. but i got the whole set off ebay for $74.

Guys, the personal stuff is beginning to get a little tedious. How about staying on topic... if you don't mind. :)
agreed.

wait... what's this topic about?
oh right. Sonny Landham. personally, i'm for it. discuss.

I have never seen a really good custom Hudson head, btw (or Bill Paxton generally). Which is a shame. He was the best character in the film, IMO.

HT needs to revisit him most of all.

I personally don't believe Hot Toys will ever revisit or redo any of the Colonial Marines. That's not to say I wouldn't want them to, I just wouldn't get my hopes up, is all.

Funny thing about demand for HT Marines... I remember a few years back when there where still stacks of unsold Marines, including Hicks, available on shelves here in Japan... at SRP no less. This was even after Sideshow had begun offering Hot Toys figures online, and the first two waves of Marines were already sold out.

They eventually sold out here too, but it took quite a while. I thought it was kinda strange, because they probably would've sold out in a heartbeat anywhere else.

I agree about the need for a good Hudson sculpt. I've yet to see a definitive Hudson sculpt by anyone. Hopefully that won't be for too much longer, tho.
