lol sorry abs. Its the lure of the darkside and I am but a servant. :devil

Here some stuff overheard at filming last week:

Apparently its a WWII story with Winston Churchill.... apparently the British somehow got their hands on a secret weapon (a Dalek with amnesia apparently since the dalek is serving them tea).... very confusing.

:lol

Its a family show Prog. Torchwood it aint. :lol

I don't have a problem with it being a family show at all, just that that one episode didn't have a "Simpsons factor" or whatever you call it where something has adequate adult content. I told my wife at the end, I bet our nephews really loved that one. They're 6-13 and living in England right now and are now big Dr Who fans...

Awesome. By all accounts the final specials will be much to yours (and my) taste. The trailers certainly make it seem so.

Sounds like Moffat hasn't attempted to restore some of the Daleks lost credibility and is deciding to make them even more ridiculous.
So much for being a writing genius

I'd like to see the Dalek civil war again...and let's change the color again shall we? Gold Daleks were all well and good, but they were better gray or black...keep the main design though...

Dalek color = good
Dalek being used to serve tea = I thought RTD had left?

Yes Brendan. From now on I am going to make a spoiler box at the bottom of every post I make anticipating your response. I am pretty sure I can get it spot on everytime as I know exactly what you are going to say... :D

Dalek color = good
Dalek being used to serve tea = I thought all the dumbass ideas would cease when RTD left. Seems I was wrong.

I thought you were done with the new stuff, so what's it matter? And really, the Daleks were never all that scary to me. Cover their eye stalk and their useless.

:lol Thats harder to do when there's more than 1 of them!

I love the Daleks. But really villians aren't that scary when the protagonist is basically immortal...:lol

I never closed the door entirely and have been hoping for some sign that the new regime might not be as clueless as the last. So far there's been nothing to indicate that.

you probably spend more time studying whether you'll like the show and then trumpeting (bragging) to us all about how you aren't watching it than you would if you just watched it. I think if they made Dr Who how you want it you might not have anything to talk about. :lol

If I enjoyed the show in it's current format I would be just as vocal about what I like about it as what I don't. I also think I would get less flak from morons like you that persist in trying to ridicule me for having a differing opinion.

bcm, name calling in the name of TV show is not good form. :nono I don't think anyone was ridiculing you. But as I have said before you could still express your opinion without all the "I hate RTD I hate NuWho" rhetoric.

I'm not ridiculing you for having a "different opinion". I'm ridiculing you for your bragging attitude as if because you don't like nu-Who that you're better than us all and we're all stupid for liking it. Basically with every post you spend reminding us how you're too good for NuWho you're ridiculing US.

I just get tired of the "if you aren't with us, you're against us" mentality that I come up against from Nu-Who lovers on pretty much every site I post.

That sort of crap soured my intrest in Star Wars collecting forums and has also done so to an extent with Transformers so I don't want the same thing to happen with Doctor Who.

If that is in your interest then perhaps investing some time to post with some tact may do you some good. Because your style of posting around the boards is usually said in such a way to inspire the reaction which you see.

Its like my wife getting surprised that I am angry after she insults my family. :lol

Yes, because as everyone knows, Power of the Daleks and The Evil of the Daleks were ridiculous disasters. Except they weren't. They became stone cold classics in part because polite and servile Daleks are creepy as hell. Perhaps you could wait to see the episodes before judging them?

As for the Daleks' credibility ... they rarely had any in the classic series anyway. The new series hit ratio with them is about the same as the classic series as far as I can see.

And really, the Daleks were never all that scary to me. Cover their eye stalk and their useless.

Pretty much covers any monster from any show ever.

Sounds like a personal problem if you're repeating yourself in "every site I post" to the point where people know you as the "anti-whatever" guy and is proof you don't post much about the things you do like. Personally, I got over posting how I hate Attack of the Clones. I don't need to tell everyone that all the time. It gets offensive after a while. Either A)you like to hear yourself repeat "I hate David Tennant" over and over or B)you're trying to make people who like David Tennant feel bad.

In his defense (and I strongly disagree with him), there actually is a surprisingly strong cult mentality on most of the fan sites. I believe this is a relic of Doctor Who being off the air for 16 years. This is deeply ingrained in classic fans' memories and it doesn't take much more than the hint of criticism for the hounds to be unleashed.

It's very much an old fan thing; people coming to the show from the new series either seem indifferent to the old series or embrace it full on. Whereas suggestions the old show was better than the new one etc are frequently bitterly attacked by old fans. I think there's a very real and very deep fear the show might be taken off the air again, and fandom believes anything less than total devotion might accelerate that.

It's the reason I generally stay away from fans online. Both series are brilliant and both series are terrible in equal measure. I can't stand objective discussion being limited only to one.
