Hehe and I watched part 2 last night, I just wonder why it doesn't recieve the same praise as part 1. I love part 2 just as much as the first one.

Predator 2 does get a bad wrap. I think part of the reason why P2 isn't as beloved is because of the primal voice of the first film. The jungle, the heat, the amazingly intense and claustrophobic ambiance of the musical score. It's in the wild. It's the hunter vs the hunted, in a film where as the cogs of the plot turn, watching it as an audience, it awakens our instinctual fight of flight nature, right down to the final showdown between dutch and the alien. Very visceral feeling.

yeah its the ambience. maybe if the characters would have talked abit more normal, not so hip-hop style, like they would have been all serious there it may have worked out abit better.
and ofc, the predator was supposed tp be stronger and smarter. compare the battles between the first and then the second movie: in first, arnie almost got killed. in the second, it was a typical hollywood action battle, where always the good comes out..

Mctiernan is a great director with a classical film schooling. Stephen Hopkins can't direct and should have sticked to his crappy music videos.

Yes, John is a good director...but I really dont care about anything other then the Predator. Thats what makes the movie for me. The first...what...40minutes bore the crap out of me. Its a good movie...but meh. Its all about the Predator.

Whats weird is, I can watch movies like No Country For Old Men, or Zodiac, or whatever...but I just cant watch all of Predator. The action even bores me!


And Die Hard is John's best film, and one of my all time favorite movies. So...dunno where you got that from.
