This definitely won't be around for a long time even with a high price, most collectors just didn't give a crap about the Speederbike, this is possibly the biggest Star Wars item Sideshow will ever make. If the portrait of Palpatine isn't horrible this will definitely become a grail piece.

We'll have to see that. As for becoming a grail only time will tell, the SW collectibles are rarely going for the prices that Marvel items go in the aftermarket for example. And if I really want this PF I'll get one later, no matter the price. But the items I'm getting now are already grail items, so I'm sticking with those for the moment. ;)

$800 is a rip off. the speederbike is far more detailed and intricate. They only reason it isn't a grail is the huge edition size.

I've always been tempted by the Scout and Speederbike, but I wish Sideshow offered a longer Flexpay plan on it like they're doing with recent pricey items like the 1:1 busts.

IMO the speeder bike is a ripoff. Detailed it might be, but a no-named character that has no more than 5 minutes of screentime over the Emperor? No thanks. And we haven't seen all the details of the Emperor yet so you have no idea what his face or the electronics on the chair even look like.
To be honest, I don't give a crap about the speederbike/scoutrooper. But the emperor in his throne :panic:

:lecture Sure the Scout Trooper on Speederbike looks cool, but I could give 2 ____s about a background character. The Emperor=pivotal character that was involved in the entire saga?? Yes.

I think it is the size of the piece moreso than the edition size that hinders the speederbike.

I'd buy a Chancellor Palpatine PF before I'd buy the scout w/speederbike, but that's just me. Can never have too much Palpatine.

of course the emporer is more important than the scout. that however, does not take away from how impressive the scout (and especially the speederbike) is. one of SS best pfs from any line.

the pictures don't do the speederbike justice - that thing is more like a studio scale replica, the detail is fantastic - yes the ES is too high, but worth every penny in my book.

and now, back to palpatine.

Can't wait until this Tue to see the pics. It depends on the likeness of the portait if I want to get it or not.

As has already been said, the only reason the speeder bike didn't sell out immediately was that it had too high an edition size. 1500! That was at least twice as many as it should have been. And the price was probably a little high as well.

I don't know about other people, but the speeder bike sequences of the film made a big impact on me as a kid, so it's not just a "no-name background character" to me.

Not only did the speederbike sequences rock as a kid, this PF itself is a collection centerpiece. Until you've seen it in hand, it's hard to describe the impressive nature of the piece, both from a detail and size perspective. As pumped as I am for the Emperor, I'm not sure it will have the overall visual "umph" that the speederbike does. IMHO.

Yeah, in my opinion the 1:6 version is good but hasn't a "Wow factor". With the Throne he looks great, but it's not the best likness SS has done... So for the PF I hope they do a better job...

I agree. If it is too rich for my blood, I can do the same pose with the 12" one. I didn't pre-order the clone PF because I can do the same with the 12" clones. I can also do lots of different poses as well.

As of likeness, the 12" anakin was way off but the PF anakin was much better. The likeness 12" emperor is good enough for me, but hopefully the PF will turn out even better!

:exactly:

Big PFs are very welcome here are my pics of the Bikerscout on Speederbike! btw after The emperor and then the droids the next Big PF will be Jabba! Just keep the Edition size lower than the speederbike and they'll sell out fast!

and now back to palpatine, really! :)

well we've seen a lot of 'grails' out there but likeness / form is questionable for some. to each his own. IMO, sideshow is going to rake in a lot out of this palpatine.
