OK, categorize them according to the amount of color and humor and see how they stack up.

They're not comedies, that is for sure, so that's not really a valid categorization IMO :lol

The only two buckets we're talking about really is whether to put them both in the 'comic book movie' bucket, or whether TDKR fits in some other bucket.

This thread has been so entertaining to read that I completely forgot to go watch Spider-Man or Batman.

Now I'll never be able to vote on the subject.

You're getting hung up on the perceptual level. The Batman movies weren't about Batman, Bane, Catwoman, Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow or Ra's Al Ghul.

Yeah, they're films about ideas at their core. That is the difference between the Nolan films and the other 'comic book films'.

I heard that Nolan said that the themes of the films were fear, chaos, and pain, respectively.

I don't have a source, unfortunately. I don't follow interviews.

You know damn well that I know that Batman is a comicbook character.

How about you dig a little deeper than "Batman from comic, movie about Batman, movie comicbook movie"? :huh

Really? Because I think excusing Nolan's films as not being "comic book" movies is equally insulting. If you'd followed Batman in the past several decades, you'd know the storylines aren't the "happy-go-lucky" prejudice you're trying to apply to Avengers (which ironically applies more to Superman than any Marvel books). Whether you like it or not, Nolan's films ARE comic book movies. They're about comic book characters and reflect many of the story elements and plot points from the comics. I suspect you already know this but are continually playing ostrich to avoid having to admit any error. :lol

The Avengrears might be worse than the Nolancompoops.

I'm sure some are. As a whole I'm more likely to compare Nolanites as a whole to the twitards than anything. Not all mind you but the group as a whole.

Side note: Twilight actually came to comic-con while the avengers and Nolan's batman films did not. Thats messed up. :monkey2
