Who hates old films?

A few people. But normally it's when there's a remake of the film along the way. Total Recall, Spider-Man, X-Men.....just seems to be a hatrid of older films, because new ones are coming. It's a bit...irky...ya know?

You forgot Burton's and Adam West's Batmans. ATM, it's moved on from Raimi's Spider-Man to Reeve as Superman.

It's been irrational since the beginning. Look how many people actually believe Ledger deserved the Oscar over Brolin. :huh

He did deserve it over Brolin. Brolin was the least deserving of the nominees that year. If Shannon had more screen time his was the only performance on par if not better (but considerably less flashy) than Ledger's.

Shannon
Ledger
Hoffman
Downey Jr.
Brolin

Did you see Milk? Or just copy and paste Wiki's list? :lol

While I love '66 Batman I can completely understand why people wouldn't get or appreciate it.

With you on the others, though.

And there does seem to always be an "in the moment" bias. For instance, I guarantee you many of the Batnolan fans who say TDKR is their favorite of the trilogy will change their minds within the next year or so. They're still clouded by the anticipation, buzz, and excitement... which absolutely makes it harder to see something through the rose-colored glasses. I know, because I've been there.

:lol I'm one of those that rarely will even watch a remake because I dislike Hollywood's lack of originality these days. Unless of course the orginal was a super poor film, a la The Thing from Another Planet being remade by Carpenter or Tobe Hooper remaking The Toolbox Murders. Those were acceptable because the films originally were terrible and this was a vast improvement.

I do think that some of the films that are considered "The best Films ever made" have been trumped by films in the 60's and 70's and 80's and the critic panels just let them hold their spots because change is frightening to them.

If most of these hipster kids had grown up during the 60's or 70's, there'd be an appreciation for West's Batman. Unfortunately, they hate on what they don't understand. And I'm not so sure about the Nolancompoops. They'll turn into us, defending Nolan's Batman against the brand new d-bag members hating on those films to justify the reboot. :lol

I used to watch them all the time. I don't hate them. They were what they were. They have their place in time.

So does Superman, and Spider-Man.

People always view things, in the now. Rather then, the past.

Like Red Dawn. That movie is pretty fun, I just watched it for the first time...And it's themes don't resonate now, but that doesn't make the film's overall idea moot. It's just a film that has it's place and time.

Appreciate it on that level.

Yeah red Dawn really has that Cold War/Red Curtain vibe to it.

though I did watch Escape from New York again Recently and when it said "1997" I nearly died laughing.

Other Nolan movies don't count. :nono

No, what you seem to be ignoring is the fact that TDKR was doomed to compete with Avengers from the get-go. Void didn't even think it could after Avengers exploded. Remove the 3D/IMAX mark-ups from Avengers and the IMAX mark-up from TDKR and TDKR still gets spanked. Yes, spanked. Avengers would've kicked it's ass (and likely did) in family ticket sales alone. TDKR does not lend itself to a family audience and honestly, that's where the $$$ is. TDK as a date movie is 2 tickets while Avengers as a family movie is 4+ per viewing. It's basic math and common sense. Now does that diminish anything from TDKR? If you let it, that's pretty sad. But overall, regardless of what fanboy poll you pull out of your ass, people voted with their wallets and TDKR didn't win.

I never said anything about it diminishing TDKR and I didn't pull anything out of my ass. The poll is right there on the internet. It's also not about winning, just because Avengers made more money doesn't mean it's the better film.

Hey, you're using this one poll to validate your opinion. So, i'm going to use another.

No, I'm not. That's just the way you see it. I posted it because I thought it was funny, it had nothing to do with my opinion. The problem with this place is that you can't have your own opinion and you can't like both either. You can't just enjoy both for what they are, you have to choose and that's just stupid.
