I think he cares about playing for England on some level otherwise he'd have walked away by now but when many of his own countries fans are against him it must be hard to give a damn.

It would also help if he had decent players around him. Even Messi and Ronaldo need a decent supporting cast as they can't always win games on their own.
Yep Id have to agree. England fans will always look for someone to blame and that man is Rooney. Was he brilliant ? no. But Hodgson picks a player that plays central for his club and was our top scorer in the qualifiers in a central role for England. Sterling plays predominantly wide for his club so Roy plays them both out of position for our biggest game in the group.
And even then, Rooney set up our only goal in the game. Second match, he has an awesome free kick that just goes wide and scores our goal.
He effected both of our games yet is getting all the stick but I cant think of anyone else other than Sterling in one game that did better ?

I just dont know what it is with our national managers that play our best players in the wrong positions.
He gambled against Italy, it backfired. He gambled against Uruguay when he should have took a draw at 1-1, it backfired.
Thats why we are out.

True, Ronaldo isn't nearly as effective for Portugal as he is for Madrid. And it can't be easy for Rooney when he's playing next to a player like Welbeck. :lol

Rumor has it the real reason Ronaldo left for Madrid was because he saw Welbeck coming through the youth ranks and decided it was time to abandon ship :lol

If Louis Van Gaal wants to become an instant favorite as United manager he can start by disposing of him as quickly as possible, either by selling him to whoever is stupid enough to want him, or by assembling a firing squad :lol

In the meantime he has a World Cup to win. Barring the usual internal meltdowns that Holland tend to have I think they're more than capable of doing so.

:lol Brilliant.

The Dutch are looking good. Without a doubt one of the most impressive teams so far.

I agree. And who's cares about what people think when you earn £300 grand a week. I know I wouldn't.

Rooney cares. Cares more about his hairline than his legacy.

And to think he wants 600 pounds a week. What a character. God bless united. They are rolling I money so they can afford to pay ludicrous wages.

Has he ever been fit? When he demands to be paid as the best player ever in England you need to step it up. Sorry, I know united fans hate to hear any criticism of their beloved, but he should have been left off the roster.

The last world cup he was overweight imo which I agree was poor. Before that, he had a broken toe and was risked. Thats not his fault.
In terms of wages, thats up t United if they want to pay him that. There are plenty of players at chelsea, city that earn close or as much that havnt achieved half of what he's done.
He was rightly picked because he has a great record for club and country.
