Yup. The fact they were so adamant at getting Feig to direct shows that they really didn't care at all about the integrity of the franchise, and were hoping to snag his audience. I'm sure they assumed they would already have a built in audience of us old fans. This movie just stinks of Sony suits with dollar signs in their eyes wanting to push out a movie to boost merchandise sells, so they could start slapping no-ghost logos on useless junk like Star Wars does. No doubt the catalyst for it all was the 30th anniversary and seeing how much people will still eat up merch from the franchise.

I'm sure they'll make lots of money though, that's the problem. Slap a GB logo on a crappy comedy and people will still go and see this rubbish.

I honestly don't think the movie itself is gonna do that well, but I do think they'll get enough attention from a younger generation that they can sell merch to. And they'll probably still be able to sell new merch to the old crowd as well, as I'm sure most of it won't be too specific to the new cast and will probably just be more no-ghost logos on various items.

This movie should be shone with the new Robocop, and Total recall. Two other remakes that were totally unnecessary.

This thing has got so many marks against it. i have never seen so much press about a movie being bad before its released....actors cussing out people on twitter , directors defending their choices, planted stories about how great it is.....

We love in a very weird time......

Amy Pascal is at fault. she wanted feig to make his "Girl Power" movie and she greenlit this before getting fired. this was the last project she worked on

so, sony is at fault but mostly her, her And Feig.

Well, she didn't exactly get fired - although if the leaked emails are anything to go by, she shouldn't be trusted to run a pretzel stand, let alone a movie studio - she now runs Pascal Pictures, a studio funded by Sony, and which has Sony as its sole distributor. So more like a golden handshake/feathered nest as a reward for six+ years of staggering, baffling incompetence. Pascal Pictures handles the Ghostbusters license, the joint Spider-Man venture with Marvel, and intend to make a film based on Zoe Quinn's recent 'memoir'.

She is the only person employed by Sony Pictures or its subsidiaries to earn over $1 million per annum, yet recently claimed that the film industry is designed to make women fail.

Add Clash of the Titans to that Mix!! Only remake that has been successful is Planet of the Apes!!

The Ring.
The Departed.

And The Force Awakens.

The Fast and the Furious
CREED

Are pretty much remakes of Point Break and Rocky.

Not having read everything here but having recently seen the trailer there was one funny moment in the whole thing. They were all by the car and trying to say something together. Or something. I forgot what the joke was already. I didn't laugh out loud at it but it was funny. The rest just looked dumb. I hate Bridesmaids so this doesn't appeal to me. I also no longer love Ghostbusters like I did when I was a kid so I'm not outraged at the direction this is taking either.

The one part of the trailer that actually did give me goosebumps was that two second shot of the Ecto-1 speeding through traffic. That did kind of take me back. Of course there were no actresses, dialogue, or ghosts in that shot which obviously helped.

Yeah but that's what the kids dig these days, bright neon colours! :lol

The one shot where there was a group, they're all blue :dunno

While in GB1-2 there was a massive variety of different looks and colors. I'll see this when it hits Netflix or TV, and sit through it with pure hate like I did TMNT.
