That's the beauty of the standalone films, less exposition for the Avengers films. Thor in Avengers, for instance, literally just dropped out of the sky.

That would be my dream, and they wouldn't have to be featured in the full movie. They could tangle with Thanos and lose, then end up teaming up with the Guardians to have to fight him for the final scene. that could be some epic ****, Thanos taking on a dozen of Marvel's mightiest. He kills Hawkeye, cripples Stark (who then hands over the reigns of IM to Rhodey) etc..etc.. who knows

Has RDJ ever said he wouldn't renew or do people just think he and Marvel won't come to a new deal?

Maybe the honeymoon is over, I remember an interview where he said his plan was to do a Marvel movie every other year and a Sherlock Holmes movie every year he wasn't making a Marvel movie and he would retire blissfully happy.

I hope they do make his throne as well as him, still we wont see a Thanos figure until Avengers 3 i fear. He will only appear in a couple scenes in GOTG i predict with one of them recently described as him on his throne from a distance in space like this iconic art:
