I was shocked that they used an ordinary Tru type as well, what great tailoring they used on the clothes to give it the Nicholson body feel to it. :yess:

I wonder if they might do that for the Returns Penguin, an extra wide body suit over a regular tru type to give it good articulation.

Why in the world would they produce a Returns Penguin? That was the worst character/movie in the history of mankind. Raised by penguins? Selina falling in a truck of kitty litter?? Burton took the franchise back to the campy (yet dark) feel of the sixties which everyone feared was going to happen in '89. He just did it a couple years later. Movie sucked.

Hot Toys would produce a Penguin because I'd buy Returns Penguin. I like his character, I like his improved backstory where he's discarded by society and raised by a freak show circus group instead of just being this funny guy in a top hat and monocle.

I hardly think the movie sucks and I think the 1/6 Hot Toys versions of Returns Batman, Catwoman and Penguin will be just as cool as these.

I thought the movie sucked too (Just my opinion)....it served the first movie better for the producers to control Burton a bit. Burton deserves most of the credit for the first Batman movie, however I believe there was a collaborative effort that produced the best film in the eighties. When they gave him full control, he produced Batman Returns.

I also believe Hot Toys will make the big three (Penguin, Batman and Catwoman). I will pass on picking them up

I'm glad you are not in charge of HT's license department, because along with a Returns Catwoman, a Penguin would be near the top of my wish list.

Bring it on!

I didn't get 'crazy' from ledger Joker, he was very coordinated and calculating. Even if the things he was doing didn't make sense he was always organized. Like putting a bomb inside one of his own men. That was carefully planned out, he knew what he was going to do.That whole thing was about getting Lao. From the beginning inside the truck he already knew the outcome, probably before that. Probably from the start at the bank robbery.

Nicholson Joker would have never thought to do that, because he never would have planned on getting arrested, he didn't have that sort of attention span. It was all was spur of the moment. They are both scary for different reasons

Yea, Ledger Joker was so awesome. Fat Nicholson Joker was entertaining for 89. Scared the crap out of me. I just never liked that they got a fat guy to play the Joker.

:yess::clap:goodpost: I agree.

I liked the movie. It would be as impressive today, but for a 20 year old movie, it still holds up.

Of course, if they decide to make figures from Batman & Robin, I'll have that opinion. THAT MOVIE WAS TOTAL CRAP!

:exactly: Rory! I said before, I usually don't collect the villains, but after what HT's has done with the craftsmanship of Jack's joker, I'm going to collect all the Returns line, and I can't wait to see what the 1/4 scale is going to look like as well! It's got to be Batman right, I can't see them by passing Bats in a bigger scale.

I hope the catwoman comes with the zapper accessory as well, I can just image HT"s coming up with a burnt up Max Shreck background diorama for her! :yess:

Wow, a Penguin by Hot Toys?
That would be off the hook. He's got a lot of accessories too.

Definitely a DX if HT were to move ahead on a Penguin.

I loved Devito for the film but saying that I've loved his acting/comedy since Taxi. I also loved his ranting in the car hijack scene and those tilted looks he gives.

Don't adjust your sets. Welcome to the Oswald Cobblepot school of driving. Gentlemen, start your screaming!

I'm not the biggest fan of Returns (or Batman, for that matter), but it has got its moments. And it really does present a very distinctive and memorable take on Batman and his world, murderous psychopath though he may be in it. Devito was quite good at bringing that character to life IMO, as was Pfeiffer.

Touring the riot scene. Gravely assessing the devastation. Upstanding mayor stuff.

Returns had great characters the problem was the story line tieing them together was so dark and intense that it came off as grim and had a morbid feel of death and despair, even for a Batman movie. :lecture

Another issue I had with the villains was the fact that they didn't act like villains in the true sense. In the 89 film you knew Joker was the villain, even when he was Jack Napier he was truly evil.

With Penguin, I got a sense that he was more of an outcast than a true evil, with Catwoman, you can see it was more of Selena fighting the craziness of her split personality coming back from the dead.

The funny thing is, the one true villain and evil in every sense of the word like Joker in 89 in returns was Max Shreck! IMO, he screamed the idea of a true villain in that film. :lecture

That's why I think that's one of the factor why Returns failed in it's story arc for the film among the viewers and fans.

Erm... everything Burton does is grim. Look at Alice in Wonderland. It's his style. Beetlejuice had that same emotionless feel. Plus the older he's got the more freakier he has become. Sometimes I always got the impression he's stoned.

____ if was in charge of HT license department we'd see some great stuff and Returns is not one of them! :rotfl I don't know what sequel disappointed me more; Return of the Jedi or Batman Returns!

What did you guys think when the penguins were carrying a 300lb man to his watery grave?

And didn't Batman reveal his identity again?!? It's been a while since I've seen it and a Hot Toys figure is not going to make the movie any better!

That was one sought after bootleg Joker for a while. Fetched upwards of $300 on ebay. The V2 of him could get $350 to $400.

I owned three of those once. I thought I'd never part with my 89 Batman customs and bootlegs but HT has now devastated that market.

"Franklyy...I feel thats a bum rap. I'm a businessman. Tough, yes. Shrewd, OK..but that does not make me a villain"

Thanks for the info. Side by side shows how incredible Hot Toys figures are, especially if people used to think that thing on the left was worth $300. It looks like Joker as played by ____ Clark.
