The armor is supposed to be a gold-titanium alloy (which a fictional composite material) to make the Mark III which carries over to the Mark VI. Now, while gold is naturally gold it can be turned other colors by alloying gold with other materials. Therefore if its composed with titanium it would turn things more a silver color in theory. As far as if it would make for a good armor or not "according" comic world the Mark VI armor can take a beating and keep on ticking without taking much damage.

Now, as far as the scratches being silverish or gold. Lets assume by mixing the gold and titanium enough it makes it more silverish (white gold type color) that would make sense to me. Thats why I would think knowing how the two would mix not keeping it gold colored anyways. Its fun to talk about but its looking into things harder than I would normally care to. :lol I mean in Invincible Iron Man the BE Armor comes out of the pores of his skin. So while the movie is bent to the real world it is still truly fiction.

I just feel that as much as these figures cost we shouldn't have to mod them in any way to make them acurate, even if it is very simple...granted Whiplash was a bit cheaper...

As Cal said I believe it was a licensing issue. Now, I didn't know someone held the rights to orange jumpsuits but ya learn something new everyday. :lol

You could believe that, if we were not shown that the whole reason it's gold to begin with is due to the "fictional" gold-titanium alloy (which there are real gold titanium alloys). You could also infer that the "gold" in the "gold titanium alloy" mentioned by name in the film refers only to the color gold not the actual element gold. Such as, already mentioned TiN which is often gold colored and sometimes referred to as "gold titanium".

It would also make a lot of sense for the armor to be some sort of layered composite, not a single material. Modern real body armor for example is made from a variety of sandwiched materials. Modern "hard" armor if made more feasible by using in conjunction with some sort of strength amplifying system, I would guess would also be some sort of sandwiched composite.

There's a bunch of pics on the various pages backwards. There's so much chatter though it's sometimes hard to find pics and also easy to miss them.

I got my two Mark VI's from HK on Friday of this week and I just think the detail and workmanship is just incredible. I guess I'm not as picky about what color the scratches are and the position of the triange on the BD chestplate- I didn't even notice either one until I read it on this board this afternooon. These two are definately one of the highlights of my IM HT collection. I have one set up with BD accessories and the ground base and the other one is set up normal with the face plate up and next to War Machine with his face plate up. I'm so glad I sold my HT Dark Knight figures and vehicles to finance buying two each the Mark IV and Mark VI figures. I guess I need to get rid of the OC Dark Knight and a DX Batman to finance the two Mark V's I'm going to want to buy in the Fall!

So much to catch up to
- bulletproof requires material to be actually flexible
- if painting a gold material into silver and then gold and then red makes no sense then painting Whiplash's orange pants brown only so we can turn it back to orange really makes you think that the material was orange to begin with but they were asked to dye it brown to avoid any licensing issues. Makes sense?
- really whenever we lack pictures the discussion part spirals out of orbit OMG help. HELP!!!

Honestly, they could call it cupcake for all I care. As long as its Red/Gold like in the comics and it looks like Iron Man. I guess using a bit of reading that I can roll with the scratches being more silverish.

Lets put it this way I won't be saying thats wrong or inaccurate with the figure when I review it. While it could be inaccurate to the real world what it shows in the movie its right on.

Thats because so few people on the boards actually have this figure already. Once they are released in the US the hype is going to skyrocket!

Agreed. As stoked as I was for the Mark IV and as much as I love the Mark IV this figure is higher on both scales for me.

Not so much just OMG, the overall enthusiasm for this figure seems off to me :dunno

That' because it was preceded by the Mark IV and that one received most of the attention. There's no way the Mark VI could garner the same amount of thunder. To me it's the in-between figure. People were wowed by the Mark IV because it came first (disregarding WM) and the Mark V will be the last as well as the most unique so it'll get a lot of attention just because of that. The Mark VI just sits somewhere in the middle.

The WOW factor won't be as big for this figure as we are now used to the new sculpt that both this and the iv share, before the iv came out the best classic looking ironman we had to compare it with was the battle dmage m3 and that really made that figure stand out ..so ya great looking figure but it's just the same figure that most of us have already with a few changes, but that said i'm still getting one:D

Once it hits everywhere else, expect a skyrocket in posts and excitement.

no kidding..cant wait! MKIV set a new standard for the HT IM line & I'm excited to see how this guy compares in-hand..MkIV blew me away when i got it..I'm counting on VI to do the same
