What i find interesting is that people here don't trust the artist. From that interview that was posted It was Yulli that wanted rooted hair. If you go to a good restuarant do you tell the chef how to cook? Maybe the sculpted hair looked lousy...in the end you have to trust the people that are creating it...as far as the production pieces go hopefully the hair is easy to futz.

I'm really surprised it seems like a good number of people will miss out on this otherwise gorgeous figure just because of the fear of the looks/teases/insinuations of it having rooted hair

I'll be the first to admit I'd prefer sculpted hair for look/maintenance purposes -- but the fear of it being likened to a Barbie by morons because it has rooted hair shouldn't be the sole reason that stops anyone from getting it. I mean, at the end of the day these are all 12" toys with removable cloth & pleather clothing

You just can't call people who are not used to seeing 12" toy/collectibles moron for simply not able to make distinction of your toys. Again, they are not used to seeing as well a grown up man playing with an action figure and that includes you...

A chef creates one meal.

HT will be creating thousands of Black Widows, who will then endure a transcontinental journey while packed in the hold of an unairconditioned cargo ship. This journey might well take a month or two. Meanwhile you got that meal in 30 minutes to an hour.

So, no. You are correct in assuming people dont trust the hair to be in good shape when they get thier hands on the actual figure. This distrust is well-founded, given the shots we've seen here where the hair still looks stringy and distressed - IN A BEAUTY SHOT. I tremble to think what will come out of the actual box.

As for me, I am really not interested in purchasing HT figures with rooted hair. Too much potential for error.

The biggest fault with her hair is that it's shorter than Thors... yet his is sculpted and hers is rooted. Doesn't look uniform. Good thing I was never interested in the first place, but she does look good.

But may cook that dish thousands of times.

I agree, hopefully it's easy to futz, but this fact doesn't take away from the artists professional opinion and since we weren't privy to a sneek peek of a sculpted version we can't debate which looks better.

I'll almost bet your opinion will change when in hand pics start showing up...it's always the case...but if you don't cool, enjoy ur avengers collection minus BW.

I agree it's shorter than Thor's but his is straight, hers is curly so therein lies the problem...and I agree she looks great.

my point was more towards people who would use the "it has rooted hair so it's a Barbie not an action figure and you're a guy so why do you own it" stigma that numerous people have posted about in regards to her hair being rooted & them being uncomfortable owning/displaying it because of comments they're likely to receive (or already received "Barbie" comments by owning the IM2 BW). It's such a paper-thinly veiled dig/shame attempt at someone's masculinity -- and yes, I find that incredibly moronic. I don't expect for anyone to make clear-cut distinctions between toy brands when I can hardly do that myself

Hahah..we all kid ourselves by calling them action figures..makes us feel better..but we are all playing with dolls..take a barbie and put a colt in her hand and she becomes an action figure (well minus articulation) but at the root its the same

rooted or sculpted doesnt matter to me as long as it looks like what it is trying to emulate (something the original hot toys widow failed horribly on). i have zero interest in this figure, but its certainly not because of something like "it has rooted hair" its because i hate movie black window....well, ok there are some "parts"of her i enjoy:rotfl

:goodpost:

It is sad. Homophobia and its inseparable twin, misogyny, are deep rooted prejudices that men vigourously enforce on one another, and to a lesser extent, certain women help propagate.

The worse part is that by not getting this doll because it has rooted hair instead of the apparently more 'no-____' acceptable sculpted hair, they are giving into bullying/prejudice. So in order to be 'manly men' they have to be too timid to actually have fun.

But they are morons if they judge someone for having a harmless hobby that they enjoy.

Collecting is rooted in the home, the traditional female sphere. Women have collected china, dolls, antiques for centuries. Guys are supposed to collect manly ____ like weapons and coins, which bespeak of wealth and power. Hell, some men would even consider collecting fine art effette in a fellow man, so there is no winning with homophobia-misogyny.

Girls/ Femaie/ Chicks....to sound more manly...

Ah, yes, the mighty hunter. :aragorn
