Nice pic man, and another example of how lighting strongly changes the look of this figure's paint job - he looks like RoboCop 2 Robo there.

Thanks :)

Here's another pic, this time taken at night - no natural daylight, only artificial white light. The blue disappears, the purple becomes more prominent.

Is it 100% to the film? No. Does it look a lot better when you're not shining harsh light on it against a pale backdrop? Most definitely yes.

Further, I've got to say the attention to detail on this figure is blowing my mind. See the two small rivets at the centre of the chest? Notice how they aren't lined up properly?

On the Enterbay one they are - and that's wrong! After carefully examining some film stills, that is indeed how the details on the actual prop suit appeared, they're slightly asymmetrical.

Here's mine, with Terminator.
I just liked the pairing of these two 'robots'. Robo wants Arnie's gun.

I can appreciate the detail, but when the overall proportions are beaten by EB, the importance is lost

Agreed, might not be a perfect color match but it is a thing of beauty, great eye for the smallest detail there Bateman, I would have never picked up on the rivets let alone researched it:clap

I wonder how many tiny details we miss on many of our figures, they are pretty amazing collectibles we have these days and they keep getting better.

Let me preface this by saying I don't want to start another pointless round of Enterbay Vs Hot Toys arguing, I've seen more than enough of that already. They're both great figures in their own right, but I keep seeing the comment repeated that the EB figure is somehow better-proportioned - for my money, the HT figure nailed it.

That's not to say the EB figure is any worse in this department, but what turns me off their version is that there's several small details that are just plain wrong, albeit in very subtle ways. The head is slightly too elongated. The jaw is ever so slightly too wide. The biceps, for lack of a better term, are slightly too long. It's a very impressive figure with some cutting-edge features and arguably more accurate paintwork, but detail and quality-wise I have to give it to Hot Toys.

Agree with you on the head, but owning both and putting them In similar poses, I do think the eb version looks more like a man in a suit, robocop

paint isn't arguable
Ht wins in articulation which is a big factor to me since iconic poses are the nostalgia factor

I have no company or scale bias, I just call it as I see it
Neither are perfect

I think I'd give it to Enterbay on the legs and feet, but overall I'd say the shapes and dimensions of the arms, midsection, neck and head on the Hot Toys version are more screen-accurate. Chest/back is a draw.

You could probably go through the film frame-by-frame and all the archival photos of the prop suits and compare every little detail, curve and shape but honestly who wants to spend time doing that? :slap

I've just received my new HT Robocop (yes finally!!), but something concerns me so can those of you that have it too please check something for me.

I just unboxed it and notice that when I hold the figure upside down or tilt it back and forth in my hands, I can hear what sounds like something rattling inside the chest area.

Now I haven't looked at checking out the sound feature yet as I dont think I have the right batteries, but can anyone tell me if that soft rattling noise inside the figure is normal, or is that a sign something may be broken inside?

I'm a frickin *****!!! I just opened up the battery compartment and the rattling noise was the desiccant they put in the battery compartment!!! Thanks frickin god for that!!!

It could be a bit of plastic waste trimmed off from the parts in there. Or even the loose wire from the aerial for the sounds just moving as you tilt it. If everything works I wouldn't worry too much.

*edit* Ah! cool. Mystery solved! :lol

Get Howard on the line, there's trouble in the tower.

Other than when I first got my hands on it, it's been in a museum pose in a cabinet for the last 16 days, with the rubber sections at their most neutral positions.

:panic: :panic: :panic:

Should I be heading over to the ED-209 thread to pick their brains on rubber preservation?

Let's just face the facts: Any release from Hot Toys with rubber parts will eventually decay over time. Get modge-podge, Honda grease etc and hope for the best.

Looking at it closely, the grey drybrushed effect that was initially present on both elbows has disappeared from the right, and it's started to recede from the joint as well. Left elbow and all other rubber sections appear to absolutely fine so far.

I'm speechless. I knew rubber could be an issue with Hot Toys figures, but I wasn't expecting, in a British climate especially, that it would go to hell this fast. Two years down the line maybe, but TWO WEEKS? :banghead

Assuming Hot Toys won't do anything about it, I guess I could try and buy a spare arm on the aftermarket. Somebody somewhere must have parted a few of these out.

I was scared this might happen, in a panic I ran to check my figure:panic::panic::panic:

So far so good for mine, I have had mine since the first Hong Kong release if that counts for anything so I've had it on display for about 4-5 months, just snapped these pictures to show its current state so far

For the sakes of everyone else let's hope I just got incredibly unlucky and received a figure with a gimped right arm.

That said, sometimes sharp eyes are more of a curse than a blessing. I spotted this looking closely at your pics, on the left elbow. Looks like similar crazing in the rubber, just less pronounced.

I noticed that to, seems more like a crease in the rubber than a fissure from breakdown, I have posed the elbows a few times for photos but never left them in bent poses on display, took a few more even closer shots to review.

That makes sense, looking at it. No idea what's going on with mine though. That arm's been posed a grand total of once.

I think I'll be looking out for a replacement right arm on the aftermarket for if the current one goes completely, and picking up whatever grease they recommend over in the ED-209 thread.

I mean, I shouldn't have to be doing that with a £200 figure, but that's unfortunately how things seem to be :dunno

So far so good on mine: Maybe minimal deterioration in the rubber :dunno

Had the fig about 2 months.

I would assume flexing the arms too much or leaving the arms in a bent position for any length of time would cause issues.
