Get Howard on the line, there's trouble in the tower.

Pic 1: detail of figure's right elbow as it was received. This was taken two weeks ago.

Other than when I first got my hands on it, it's been in a museum pose in a cabinet for the last 16 days, with the rubber sections at their most neutral positions.

:panic: :panic: :panic:

Should I be heading over to the ED-209 thread to pick their brains on rubber preservation?

Oh ****. :slap :lol

I took the figure out ONCE. I don't think I even bent the arms. It's been sitting in its box for the past couple of months. Maybe I oughta pick up some Honda grease.

:cuss :slap Well done Hot Toys, well done. Again.

I'd better keep an eye on this.

I dunno, I'm not too worried about that. I mean there were flaws like that on my TDK MMS67 Batman figures and it didn't necessarily indicate active deterioration. And even if it is deterioration it's a small area, not like ED-209's dome which is an incredibly prominent part.

The rubber on my Robo arms look like crap now. It's not made to be bent at all. I've done a lot of posing with mine though, so it's to be expected with their track record on rubber parts.

Another area in which EB wins.

Bad joke, I take it back. Not really.

But seriously, wtf, HT? An articulated figure that I can't pose for read of rubber deterioration? For ****s sake, this is ridiculous.

I'll check mine in a bit...

Why did Hot Toys not use the same material that they use in the joints of the Iron Man figures--it's harder! They could have used this and painted matte black and called it a day, but NOOO, gotta use rubber. Morons.

Yep, my mark 7 has the same problem as Robo with the rubber. Mark 42 and IP are perfectly fine.

Ill be using Armourall on mine the minute it arrives. I can already see myself swabbing it on with a Q-Tip.

Just Kidding.

Im just going to keep it cool and dry and pray.

I'm going to continue to pose the **** out of mine and enjoy it. Seriously, that is why it is called a action figure. Static poses and keeping figures in boxes (which can cause damage due to acids and ****) do me no good. I'd rather collect statues.

Me too man and just gonna keep posing him however I want.

Enjoy your figures fellas, there is only one case so far of rubber rot, scary but no need to panic at this point, just report in if you develop issues.

On another note, pushing my zoom to new levels

RIght on. :hi5:

I forgot to say.. I still sympathize with ED209 owners because the dome is a focal point unlike the rubber on this which can be hidden easily by posing when it deteriorates. Also, we all knew the risks when we hit the purchase button.

Me too. I don't give a **** if his elbow pit rubber gets a little dented.

I'm going to keep posing mine too, but I'm just going to keep an eye on it. I don't like to keep a figure in a museum pose and I like to pose them regularly. RoboCop must be posed like god damn RoboCop. :rock

Also, they're some amazing photos, Skull! You know you've got a huge zoom lens when you can make Hot Toys eyes appear like the mere strokes of paint that they are.

Thanks, as for Robocop I was concerned about the rubber elbows and knees from the start, mine seem fine so far so I'm not going to lose sleep, I do tend to baby my figures, museum poses mostly, robo is no different, I have posed him for photos and put him back to neutral position when done. Nothing wrong with posing your figures but also the same can be said for taking extra care to preserve your collectibles.

I'm having some issue rotating the thumb to grip the gun the correct way. Anyone have any suggestions? It looks like it should be able to rotate at the thumb joint but mine will not budge. Thanks!
