This is shocking. Not that it's degrading but that it's happening so ****ing quickly. What a complete disaster.
Ok, this is a DX02 fiasco beater!

That idiot on facebook is still defending this like as though it is actually defensible. One wonders what compels someone to do that. ''It hasn't happened to mine therefore the problem doesn't exist and no one should complain'' :slap

Haha!

I think it's understandable that people just want to vent their disgust and contempt for HT's premeditated parasitic behavior.
As for the replacements, when I sell them I'll likely charge about $45--50 for each. I would love to be able to charge much less than that- but each one is going to require hours of close attention to produce; and the silicone, resin, black pigment and other materials are a bit pricey.

Here's what I suggest EVERYBODY should do: First, if you have cracks on your dome, take clear photos of it. Then if you buy a replacement dome and install it, (or pay someone else to install it because you lack the skills or the time to do it yourself) get hand-written or printed receipts for the purchase and/or labor done, and then take photos of the new dome; print copies of everything, and finally... SEND HOT TOYS A BILL, printed in a legitimate bill-type format, with photos and copies of your receipts. Post photos of the bill (or links to photos) on their Facebook page (in multiple locations- not just at the ED-209 area) here at the forum, and anywhere else you can think of. EMAIL and CALL HT multiple times, demanding that the BILL be paid. Ask to talk to a supervisor.
The results will probably amount to nothing, but at least we can give HT the big fat black eye that they deserve.

If you purchased your ED from Sideshow or some other retailer, SEND THEM A BILL too. Call their customer service line perhaps a week after you send it, and ask them to find it/read it. Talk to the highest-up authority available. Tell them you don't want a refund OR an exchange, (the exchange will have the same dome material) but you want the bill paid in full. If they say, "That isn't our policy" just tell them "IT'S MY POLICY," and let them know you will be publicly sharing all the details and results of the communications you had with them, on social media websites and with the Better Business Bureau if you live in the USA, or your local consumer advocacy organization if you're in another country.

Again, this isn't about actually getting the bill paid... it's about public relations and consumer action. If other collectors and potential buyers are made aware of this type of recurring problem in greater numbers, and Hot Toys and Sideshow are informed of this fact directly by their customers, who knows... something may change, and you might even have your bill paid.

And mail Hot Toys the rubber dome after you rip it off and wipe your ass with it.

If I press on the front, I do feel it is less solid than the rest of the dome, like there is indeed a gap/hollow there.
The more I press on it, the more I feel that the dome shell seems to be very porous and uneven
When I say dome shell, I'm talking about the hard plastic to which the rubber dome is glued to

On one of the bridges on eds head, it feels like there is a huge piece of plastic missing, guess it's a matter or time before we see what it looks like underneath

a-dev the guys a muppet, I told him he is stupidly naive if he dont think it will happen to his, maybe he's a HT's rep :lol

I was looking at mine and though I dont have any cracking, I notices that the black edging is part of the body and not an added piece. So the replacement is going to have to be really thin and fit within the black edging.

Make sure you really scrutinize your EDs gang. After reading this thread I looked at mine and thought "this can't be happening to me". I did a cursory look last night and didn't' see anything and thought (honestly) "I'm glad mine is in the clear". Well today I was dusting and moved him over to a window sill that has indirect, but good sun light coming in (under normal circumstances my figures get NO sunlight) but the sunlight revealed this crack. Admittedly it's a small crack and not as bad as others....but it's starting.

My dome is glistening and tacky just like the day it came out of the box. I bet HT used pretty much the same process as the gen. 1 ED 209, but like others have said, this time sprayed some kind of sealant on it to keep the rubber moisturized (or something to that effect). My concern is how long until that sealant wears off or dries up like suntan lotion after swimming will still still let some skin get burned. Looks like I'm sending SS an e-mail. I just can't pay $400 + for this and HOPE that my dome doesn't look like a cracked gen 1 mess after two years. Like cancer screenings......CHECK YOUR ED MONTHLY!
