for some reason my ED's dome is still intact. but i must admit i keep his hole head covered with a plastic breakfast bag from day one. like these:

cannot post a photo because i forgot to bring a cord for my camera. the bag doesn't have ED's head inside it, it just lies on the top, covering it from dust but not from athmosphere, so that i can always take it off, see the figure and put it back. it looks nice, like ED is stored in a garage.

a temporary solution until somebody might produce a replacement. could help those who still have undamaged domes.

the one ED with intact dome is from early Hong Kong batch.
another one is from regular batch, released a month later or something like this, but i keep him disassembled in a box in another apartment and don't know how it looks now. well, i guess i'll be "lucky" to see if there is a difference between two batches.

A quick word from D1ck Jones, in charge of ED-209's development at HT:

"Renovation programme, spare parts for 25 years, who cares it worked or not?"

and my friend now say his dome is got cracks in his mine dose not have them yet but now i fear that i will have to look into getting a replacement dome soon down the road if Anthrapoid makes the dome i will have to buy two domes one for me and my friend man the paranoia is going to set in tonight just thinking my dome going to rot :(

my friend sen me a image of his ed and this is how it look after two month ED 209.jpeg and he was like has this happen to yours yet and i was like not yet crying a little inside that hot toys has fail me to make the dome not rot :(

Same here, I've had one of the plastic sheets you get in the box placed over his head. To prevent dust until I can get a proper display for him. Had a good hard look for cracks or signs of but can't seem to find any....yet. So lame of them to not learn from the previous ED.

so i guess it's something in the air that cracks the dome. once you isolate it even partly, it lives longer.
well, now i feel avenged. hundreds of HT buyers whine and complain simultaneously all over the world, so now who's nitpicker :yess:

my ED is still ok but I am starting to think its a consistency issue and that some are just bad not all. Still rubber is not long lasting compared to platic.

Mine is ok for now, but I don't think the rubber will hold up over time
Good news is, I got mine pretty early in the game from timcent, no cracking.............yet

Doesn't matter that your isn't cracking right now. Fact is, it will. Plastic could have avoided this, which everyone would have preferred anyway after the first ED. Hands up who requested a softer material for the dome in the first place.....

It's interesting to read the many concerns and "outrage" by collectors affected by this fiasco, but the bottom line . . . is the situation going to be properly addressed and rectified by HT?

Moreover, will anyone/everyone affected by this actually go through in getting a refund or God forbid a replacement and move on from this and carry through with their intention of never giving HT another dime other than posting away about it?

IMHO . . . doubtful.
Personally, no I won't, because boycotts in general are stupid and don't work (and would only serve to make me not buy stuff I'd like to have) and because, right or wrong, if this problem is widespread enough, someone will come up with a workaround. Aside from the dome (and no doubt it's a big ****-up) this figure is amazing. Returning it isn't an option for me. I think j97e1 has the right of it, there.

Getting the old one off is my worry, but I'm sure that the good people here will be sure to post a fool-proof way to do it for those of us who are not natural customizers. Really, I have faith that the community will come up with a solution.

It is a shame that HT effed up the dome, but in this instance, nostalgia trumps common sense for me. Have to say, though, if I did not already have ED in my possession/en route, I would pass on it.

Well yeah, you have to have an ED-209.. Just, how ridiculous that we still have to talk about dome deterioration after what happened with the first one, truly absurd. I wouldn't have scripted it. I would have thought that surely Hot Toys would have heard all the years of complaints and acted accordingly. Evidently not the case and that is just bizarre to me, shocking even. People are saying 'money' is why they didn't do anything but I don't understand that. Now they're gonna have to be issuing refunds, if not to us directly then to retailers, makes no sense to me why they would allow such a headache to happen.

Is anyone here going to SDCC? I am sure Howard Chan will be there, and I'm thinking the best thing would be for those going to talk to him and mention the issues. Given that he is the president of Hot Toys I'm hoping he will listen.

For those of you who hasn't experience cracking on their ED209 dome, try spraying it with Silicone Spray.
Silicone Spray prevent rubber from cracking and also give that nice shine too.
:D

3M (brand) makes them as well as WD-40 (brand).
