Based on everyone hoping they change it from "Orson Krennic" to "Director Krennic", I must have been one of the few who was secretly rooting for "Sheev Palpatine" on Emperor's nameplate.

That plaque will be on the highly sought after Kathleen Kennedy 1/6 figure

:lol

She could come with the Star Wars hatchet job accessory and GL blood effect.:lol

Well, it technically "is" OT. I've said this before, but it always has to be mentioned that RO had it "easiest" of pretty much every post-OT SW film because it's set within the OT, thereby opening up the use of distinct visuals (costumes, vehicles, locations,) characters to some degree and also the classic story-stakes backdrop of the OT, which is HUGE.

And given that what most SW fans seem to want most is more OT, whether directly (actual return of OT characters/vehicles/story arcs/mythic journey) or indirectly (nostalgic nods, call backs, visually similar designs or story points) it's not that surprising that RO would be a fan fave. That's not to undermine the filmmaking, it's just saying that fans were just far more likely to love something like RO than something like Solo (which in some ways is an "alternate reality" SW film of having a non-HF Han.)

The PT and ST have not had the OT connections to anywhere near the same degree as RO, and Solo was kind of an outlier in being set in a "between PT and OT" era (I guess it's maybe 10-15 years before ANH, so maybe 5-10 years after ROTS?)

As I've always said, if Disney wants another non-trilogy SW film to clear a billion, all they have to do is make a film set between SW and ESB.:dunno

This is spot on. New characters (so no need to recast nor “invalidate” decades of baggage in fans’ head) and all the stuff we are already familiar with. Throw a little Vader being a badass and a perfectly acceptable story and Disney had a smash hit. Plus, it looked beautiful. I love the OT as much as anyone, but while the design was impressive, only Empire had great photography.

I liked R1. I’m not a hater. I find entertainment in these movies, but I will agree, with some sentiments mentioned, I do hold R1 closer to me than anything else outside of the OT. My outlook is to just enjoy it as I would extra behind the scenes bonus materials lol.

But yeah my comment is, I would love this figure because he is a bad ass imperial and would look great on a shelf with the rest of my imperials, and at the end of the day it’s all about imperials amiright. But I never buy outside of OT as a personal rule I live by, not personal to the film. So yeah this pass hurts. I’ve been thinking about making an exception since I agree, as also mentioned, it kiiiinda is like a OT exception since it’s so directly part of that period/timeline, but i already ruled out the troopers so... kinda weird if I did get him. Anywyas this is a personal problem I’m dealing with guys how about you stay out of it, this is my life you can’t tell me what to do, you’re not my real dad. Or wait.... NNnnnOoooOOOooo

But he's not even wearing a TIE pilot outfit anyway. He's wearing the exact same chest armor that Jyn wears in RO and the helmet almost seems to have been bashed from parts of a Death Trooper helmet. So a very RO ensemble. Does kind of call into question why TIE pilots need the full helmet if Han can do it all with his face exposed.

Yeah.
But they always reuse props in movies.
They did the same thing in Rogue One with the First Order Landing craft prop from TFA.

I wonder if it wasn't meant to be an earlier version of the helmet or something. I need to watch it again, it goes by so quickly -- but there's a brief shot of a pilot during a chase scene, and I couldn't make out which helmet they were wearing...

No, there's a TIE Pilot (as in 100% same as OT except the hose pipes don't connect to the chin area - he's even got the standard OT chest armor) visible on Mimban.

Hasbro included a TIE Pilot in their Mimban trooper multi-set, though that one has the hoses in.

Missed that. The one I'm referring to:

...gets taken out by debris shattering the TIE's canopy during the Kessel Run chase. You only see a brief shot of the pilot slumping forward and the helmet looked different to me. I'll have to go back and look for them both.

He looks good but I wonder how the production will look? Tarkin didn't impress me much with the production pieces even though I liked the proto. Not much reason to get this without tarkin imo.

ANH V2 Vader with x2 upcoming new ROTJ stormtroopers on one shelf, the other is Krennic with 2 DT specialist
.
Going to be epic Empire display :drool
