why do the gauntlets have those weird lines on them?

I assume it's because those were originally the 'mangler' gauntlets, which Thrust removed the manglers from

actually I've tried that with the ht V1 tdk head. but if you put the takara mouth-piece to another cowl, it looks a bit weird and not so good anymore like in the takara sculpt. So I went then with the medi-mouth piece when I've modded my oc and it matches much better then the takara one.
