Whoa whoa whoa! Didn't somebody here on the board chime in about how Hot Toys lost money making the last hulk figure, so they would never make another?
I don't know about this one. I like the old sculpt better. And having a statue body replacement just makes it, well, a statue....

Yea, why make a statue? I would've preferred an articulated upper body!

I think I'm going to put hulk the smash pose, above my display with a light shining up(mount light next to the feet)
I'm worried he could tumble over though, although the cabinet isn't bumped much

Because it is impossible to get that pose with having an articulated body. In any case people have the option of buying the regular figure and then purchasing the second head sculpt separately off eBay if they want it.

I think the sculpted torso is a nice addition and will make the Hulk smash pose far more realistic looking.

I've gotten the smash pose with the Avengers Hulk, not that difficult. Which is why I don't see any real gain in getting the deluxe set if you already have Avengers Hulk unless you want the screaming head. Which in that case just get the basic figure. Now those who don't have a Hulk at all I can see getting the deluxe if you want normal head. Otherwise the basic works fine. I can also see those who get the deluxe set get an extra set of parted out Hulk legs for the extra head and torso.

they have all hulks displayed in secret base, the original one is with the avengers line.
I dont think it's a lighting problem, the hulk i have is kinda bright green compared to this one.

Cool thanks, just wanted to make sure someone has compared them in person :duff

What is secret base?

If i told you it wouldn't be a secret anymore :lol

He is pretty stable with those big feet, more stable than some figures i have on stands.

Yeah, no real improvement over the last one (aside from the extra torso, which it does look awesome). It still has the same ugly joints. It's a pass for me too.[/QUOT
Joints are ugly!!! Can't pose them without them!!! So buy the Premium format statue. I think this figure sucks as well as the 1st--it's a fxxxxing statue.

The pose doesn't look accurate though. The chest and shoulders look awkward when you lift Hulk's arms above his head.

To Cgi anantomy? Where's the reference pic? :dunno

Don't need a reference pic to know the figure is not right. There's a photo a few pages back (I went and grabbed it) and a few others in the thread showing how the avengers 1 figure looks in the smash pose. And it does not look right, reference or no.

Yeah, with the articulated torso, the smash pose doesn't look that great or convincing, and to say it doesn't look weird in anyway is just pushing it.

Also the second torso is an optional accessory that can only be bought with the deluxe set anyway, so I don't see why it's somehow pointless when it's more like a neat extra (well... a really big one).

Are you in charge of posing HT prototypes at their conventions? That couldn't look worse if you tried. :lol

Don't disagree, the extra torso does it's job and looks better, it's the accurate comment I was wondering about.

It's not my photo. Just one used in this thread a few pages back. There's three or four others. The point is no matter how you pose it there is no way to look realistic. As you can't move all the muscles and every part of the figure. The pecs especially. But the traps and lats and triceps.

$#!+ There IS a noticeable color difference, AoU Hulk is darker, with more brown undertones. Action figure collector in me feels a certain "perversion" so to speak, getting the DX set w/smash torso being that it has 0 articulation. Uuuuughhh....

Not if you give it more articulation--it's an action figure not a statue. There are multiple 1/6 scale statues out there. We don't need another!!! As matter of fact, I've grown tired of HT. It's the same crap over and over--non-posable statues. You can't get any good poses.

I disagree with the whole 'they're selling us a statue thing'.

If you were just getting the smash torso in the box then yes I'd agree but you're not.

What you're getting is a fully articulated action figure that, because of the limitations of action figure physics won't realistically achieve the smash pose. Because of this, in the deluxe kit you also get a second torso that has been beautifully crafted into said pose.

There's nothing stopping you from switching back to the other torso when you feel like a change. This very feature surely means this can never be classed as a statue.

'Rant over'
