Yep , its a fantastic movie imo. I don't think because its not stylised and creative makes it crap. I love all the others but I am glad aliens took the plunge into the shooter genre. If it didn't everyone would of always thought " what if ? ".

The thing about Aliens is it made the most sense to go in that direction both in our movie world (avoiding a straight rip-off) and in the Alien universe (theres no other way Ripley would revisit that world unless there was firepower).

For me the problem with Resurrection is that it never felt like it was set in the same universe as the first 3. I know it was set 200 years later but there was no 'real-world' sense about the characters. They were all essentially cardboard cut-outs with token crowd-pleasing quips - Ripley included. It was all too self conscious - 'oh we'd better have ripley say this because we need some humorous irony here and we better have a surprise android because people expect those in an alien film' or 'lets have a chestburster explode out of someones chest into another guys head because we need to fulfil a particular gore quota'. It was just a monster movie, with no more significance than a film like Lake Placid if you ask me.

Put it this way - take all the characters out of 'Alien' and take all the characters out of 'Alien Resurrection' and put them together. The people from Alien would be real, the people from resurrection would be cartoons.

Anyone thinking any of the Alien(s) movies is better than the second installment ALIENS needs to lay off the pipe for a little while.

AlienS is the best of the series, bar none, no doubt, all others fail to live up to it, except for the original which is almost equally as awesome because it is original.

Sorry prefused, you're wrong on this one.

please explain

The look of Alien is quite visually intresting. You get a very nice contrast from the run down dirty mechanical look of the Nostromo, Vs the biomechanical other worldly look of Giger's world. The film has some impressive shots. The scene where Brett is going to get it is just great to watch, visually.

Alien 3 has a fantastic style as well. Going back to Alien, except with a more...primitve look. The browns, and golds work well with the film. And it also, like Alien has some fantastic shots, see Clements' death, and Ripley's final scene (Which is the best scene in the whole Alien saga. Its perfect).

Alien Resurrection has this wacky comic book look, and I really dig it. The fast angle shots, the browns, greens, and blues that all somehow work with each other. Its a beautiful film visually.

Aliens however....isnt as stylized or creative with the camera as the other 3. While its a fantastic film, there really is nothing special about the shots, or style of the film. This is true with ALL Cameron's films. He's very "Point and shoot".

I dont think he is wrong. He said "Style wise". And he's right. In terms of style and look, the other 3 films have it beat. Heck AvP beats it in look.

The film itself....yeah, its better then all of those (except Alien). But I think he was talking about style.

wrong about what? you didn't present any argument.
you basically said you like the movie and that i need to "lay off the pipe". where's your point?

I also rank Alien 3 directly below Aliens. Its a very great, underrated film....give the AC a try. Its much better then the theatrical. But Ripley's end is better in the TC.

I'm undecided about which end I preferred - the chestbursting of the theatrical or the more peaceful end of the special edition. I guess I think the character deserved the more peaceful end. Ripley commiting suicide was to work for her twofold - to ensure the company wouldn't get their hands on the alien and to hopefully avoid the agonising pain of her chest exploding from inside - which the theatrical cut cynically made happen to her. Very cruel I thought.

I agree though, Alien 3 is a great film - I was dissappointed by it at the time because as a 9 or 10 year old child I wanted to see guns VS aliens again but I now see why they didn't do that.

it was the exact same ending except for the chestburster shot, wasn't it?

Yeah but I thought the idea the Ripley...holding the very thing that plauged her for god knows how long, and dragging it down to the fire was just...somehow more meaningful to me.

There was also a few added bits with human bishop in the lead-up to ripleys jump I think. Him shouting 'I'm not a droid' and telling a camera man 'no pictures'. There really was tonnes of new stuff in that special edition - 38 mins or something compared to Aliens 17 mins

Aside from Ripley's bit, the ending is much better. Shows how Anderson ^^^^ed up...as did Lance for not telling him he was WEYLAND in Alien 3...hundreds of years after AvP...

you asked for an explanation of 2 words. that's what dictionaries are for.
celtics a 16 year old high on goondness knows what, he still got what i said. you bumped in 2 random words i simply asked for an elaboration :huh which was obvious you woudnt be able to give.

Here's an argument for you, ask anyone that isn't a member of this board about which Alien movie they liked the best, and I guarantee it will be Aliens. Alien 3 was a laughable piece of garbage. You're trying to get some deep artistic meaning out of these movies. Let's be honest here, Alien and Aliens may have been an artistic vision that Giger and Ridley Scott wanted to see, the rest of the flicks were just to make $$$$.

Alien 3 is amazing. Misunderstood, and brilliant in its design and look. Its not better then Aliens, but its a worthy entry in the series. Glad they didnt go the "HIX N N00T HUNT ALIUNZ ON EARF AND STUFF!!11"

Lametastic.

Is Aliens 3 the one where they are stuck on aprison planet and have to shave their head due to lice? If so, craptacular. I just watched that one a little bit ago, thought it was awful, after watching two masterpieces like Alien (although a little slow) and Aliens.
