If I had to give an order for ‘movie’ preference it’d have to be ALIEN, ALIEN 3, Aliens, AvP, Alien Resurrection and coming in a very sad last AvP:R.
you liked AvP more than Resurrection?

really?

in that case, you're better off watching Starship Troopers. more guns. more aliens.
plus, you get Clancy Brown AND Michael Ironside.

also, by that thinking, Alien Resurrection should be better... shouldn't it?

o'god not you again :rolleyes: :lol

Finally, some good news!

I just saved loads of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico! :banana :banana

Well, to be fair I've only watched AvP:R once at the theatre, still haven't picked up the DVD. I loved the opening scenes with Wolf, and the Predalien was pretty cool on the whole, but I still think I prefer the first AvP movie, just seemed better thought through and the pacing wasn't as scattershot and 'soap opera' like. I think in summing up, for all its faults AvP still felt like it was trying to be a 'big' movie, where as AvP:R felt more like a TV special... and it never aspired to be anything more than that, just my opinion.

Not wishing to be pedantic (or butt in) but I think he meant Alien Ressurection.

You Sir are right, and I Sir am a fool, I misread and thought it was Requiem.

So starting again, and to answer the 'actual' question... marginally. I can see in so many ways that Resurection is a better movie, or should be, but I always come away from it thinking it was 'ultimately' a lost opportunity. Where as AvP is one of those guilty pleasures that seems do deliver a little bit more on repeat viewings, I actually watched it again last night by accident. My wife and I were going to watch a DVD but it was late and AvP was on TV so ended up watching the whole damn thing, and yet again we thoroughly enjoyed it, so it nudges ahead by a gnats tadger... just!

To be honest...there just wasn't enough "Alien" in A:R.

I loved the introduction of the Newborn, but as for the Xenos...they were pretty damn scarse in that movie.

Alien Resurrection, in IMO had cool ideas in the story, but fell flat with the execution. I like the idea of the human DNA/Alien DNA spliced together, giving the Aliens the ability to form traps and think ahead to kill the xenomorph to use it's blood to escape. Neat ideas. But for one, they kill off the only member of the crew I liked right away, Michael Wincott's character (Can't even remember characters name). Second, I felt the first act was actually solid, but the second act just seemed flat. No surprises, no dread, no Alien kickassery. Just Newborn and an facehugger through a guys head.
One more point, the gore was over the top and just plain silly. We never saw that much blood and general goo before and felt like this aspect really stood out as why it's my least favorite of the first 4 films. I do love this film series (excluding AVP-R) and hope one day talent will return to the series with their own unique take on the story, but also take the concept seriously. That's why I think the first 3 are so great.

i'm pretty sure Resurrection had more alien screen time than the first 3 movies combined.

definitely could've used more Wincott. his voice alone was cooler than most of the characters. except for Perlman, of course.

Does anybody have any actual news on the figure?
Is there any hope at all that it won't be just a rubber doll with bendy wires inside?

New pics....not a great view though. Looks like the usual joint at the elbow is still missing. Someone should bend that arm and find out if there is a wire inside or not (when no one is looking of course) :lol

Still looks off.
Crap.
Ok, I'm officially giving up hope that HT will ever give us an accurate alien and that this figure won't have bendy wires for "articulation". Yuck.

Yeah. I'll get it but I think it could be better. Short tail, hooves for feet (guess I'm so used to McFarlanes MM6), and I don't like the face.

That's the amazing thing. I consider myself to be an über-alien fan, and yet I don't plan on getting this. HT is just not putting any effort into the aliens so I don't see why they should get my money.

I'm more interested in seeing shots of the Lost Predator :D

I love the clear dome on the dog alien....but too much TDK merchandise on my plate right now :(

I'm getting it because I think this is it, that there won't be another 1/6th dog alien any time soon and by the time there is all my other rubber figures will have eroded away.

good point. but, by giving Hot Toys your money, you're encouraging them to keep putting out lousy alien figures.

damned if ya don't, damned if ya do.
i think i'll skip this and get the Lost Pred. at least they're finally getting those right.

Problem is it's my second favourite Alien design, I'm a sucker for Aliens, 1/6 scale and Hot Toys so whatayagonnado?
And as has been said, when's the next 1/6 dog Alien coming along, no time soon I'd guess, but I would have hoped for jointed elbows and knees over wire armature, I'm still holding out for the elbows to be covered joints like we've had so far.
