It was a great movie. But the story was weak and cliche. Which for me, makes it not as good as it could've been.

I'll say it again.

The great epics are always predictable to an extent.

Would you criticize The Lord of the Rings for having Aragorn become King, or for the Ring being cast into the fires of mount doom?

Even though, in our heart we know these things are bound to take place, we rejoice when they do!


Did I know that Jake would become his Avatar in the end? Did I know that the Navi would succeed in defeating the humans [aliens]?

OF COURSE!!!

But my heart rejoiced when these things happened!!!

I was moved by every minute of this movie.

To me that makes this story/film great.

Dude freaking lord of the rings won an award and you know what was going to happen thiers a book on whats going to happen, good conquers evil its the same plot. Also many fans act the same way heres what i see. People wishing they could be with a fictional character, people bashing people for not liking the same thing, people dressing and ACTING like the person thier pretending to be, People who stay in thier basment and marry a guild wife the list goes on.

Hmm, guess I don't know about that...

But just because there are some weirdos out there doesn't spoil the movie for me.


And just like I applauded the decision of the Academy for rewarding The Return of the King with best picture, I would applaud the decision to give this movie Best Picture.

Sometimes it seems like the Academy only acknowledges small "unpredictable" (depressing) movies, so it is nice when they recognize greatness even when it is big budget and "cliche".

Yeah, I only heard about his cancer last week; good that he's almost recovered though! And Lithgow FTW!
