Edit: the only one that would stay up without the stand is the T-600, but its not worth the risk to me.

The aliens look like cartoons to me, they'd just look so out of place in my collection. I shan't be buying. Trying to stick to Terminator (HT and NECA), Predator (NECA) and my usual Star Wars OT 3 3/4 line this year anyway.

Hmm, I might do that. I once started a thread about boxing or unboxing figures and I got a few replies, but it burned out fast. I guess I'm a little apprehensive about starting another thread like that.

But if I do start one I know what the title will be:

I for one think the display stand discussion is fairly relevant to the thread topic. The Navi figures will be larger and taller than the average figure, so I'm expecting that Hot Toys will design a new type of display stand for this line. I don't see how they can just use the standard black stand they've been using.

Well yes it did start as a relevant discussion, but we kind of derailed it.


I will be curious to see what they do for a Navi stand, but I am really hoping that their feet give 4 solid resting points (2 heels, 2 toes) and that they are possible to pose without a stand.

I think they should do a large stand with some Pandora plantlife with a light function that makes those plants light up in a bioluminescence kinda way.

Seriously, a stand of at least 7 or 8 inches across, because if these figures are gonna be like 18 - 20 inch and you want them to be posed in a bit of an action pose with the legs spread apart a bit, than you could run out of room real fast on a small stand. And you have to have stability of course, so a large stand is necessary.

I'm sure they will make the figures so, that they can stand without the stands. Maybe they'll even have articulated feet, so that you can move the toe section for better stability in certain poses.

I also wonder what the poseability is going to be like for these giant smurfs. Because I think it would be a real shame if poseability is limited to standing or gentle walking poses since in the film, they were quite animalistic and would be great to recreate some of those low down mightily pissed off looks:

I know sideshow are doing something with this pose, but it was the only pic I could find to make my point

I find it unlikely that will be able to do that kind of pose but it would be awesome none the less

Would also be pretty cool to have a second pissed off headsculpt:

But powers that be seem to prefer neutral sculpts. And I'm not expecting a second head sculpt but still think would look pretty awesome

What if they get the posability part down but it suffers joint issues like the old alien lines? That would suck big time.

That would suck, I would rather have a figure that will last, and look good. As opposed to one that doesnt look as pleasing to the eye but can be put in a wide range of poses.

Because although it would be cool to get some poses like above, I would rather have something that looks good on the shelf rather than looking cheap or that will deteriorate within a year or so. Especially since these are not going to be cheap

It seems they are seriously considering Augustine too, which is pretty cool IMO. And since there isn't any mention of Avatar behind her name, I'm guessing a human form...
