Cool...Looks like they got the height right.

Here's the pic for the lazy people.

see how thick that base is?:yess:

Can anyone that speaks Japanese make anything out from the scans at OSW?

It's pretty blurry and hard to read, but the captions around the Avatar pic basically state that Joseph Tsang is the main HT creature sculptor, and that he's currently working on the Avatar figure - this suggests the project isn't dead. Nothing is said regarding release etc.

On their FB page they reference the Avatar pic specifically. If the project was scraped I doubt they would single it out. That may jut be my wishful thing though

Not necessarily. Looks to be the base body sculpt, prior to any articulation points.

But most of the time Tsang sculpts them in parts from the beginning. At least that is what I have pulled from looking at his process shots on his blog. Also he is the guy they seem to go to sculpt the rubber bodies.

Being a long skinny frame will help with the articulation but it's still going to be hindered. If HT went full rubber for Leonidas, there really isn't any reason they wont for Avatar too, seeings as they are basically the same costumes. Unless like Cameron they are trying to develop some completely new technology for the Avatar figures? Wishful thinking?

When he sculpted Berserker it was all one piece. Berserker doesn't have rubber or does he ? I think they sculpt the whole body then mold it, then cut it up, then re-sculpt the joints, then mold the pieces. Is that how it happens?

I think these are going to be identical to Berserker : No rubber, single jointed arms and legs, And also too short. :slap

The figure in that picture is about 2 heads taller than standard True type which is definitely too short. This should be like 19"

There's only a couple of scenes in the movie that show the scale of Na'vi relative to humans. Its almost a bit of a surprise how big Tsu Tey is when he jumps on the shuttle ramp and starts throwing the soldiers out. I'd probably be fine a shorter approximation if it maximizes displayability and cost.

Rubber bodies would be a deal breaker though. Just too many horror stories to roll the dice for such a high end figure. I'm glad to see Jake in development though, companies seem have been ignoring the title character for the most part in favor of fan favorite Neytiri.

Not necessarily. He only does that for the Aliens figures, from what I can tell (and the 'making of' photos of the Giger Alien on Tsang's blog proves otherwise, oddly).
