Same here (lost my $20 reward coupon) but ordered from HK (not waiting another year plus I like the headsculpt, gulp). Will order Mark 21 Midas when he is available (not PO anything anymore).

Mark 43 is nice! Originally release had some loose joints, but I hear the rerelease is solid. I do prefer the 42 rather than the 43 but both are great (they all are)

Got a full refund as well. Concept 46 is also a great figure if your looking for something similar to the 85.

well, Disney / MARVEL / Star Wars are sure shots and with all the different characters and lines here, HT has so much work to do and money to earn, they don't need to take care of other licenses much, i guess. (and maybe can't.. 2 years until release nowadays..) Plus these licenses must cost a fortune, so they need to make the most out of it.

But they surprise us from time to time...ALITA was a great one!

Please remember also, HT does NOT dictate the pricing in the US or europe! That's SIDESHOW! Just look up the prices in HK!

When discussing the pricing, it always bothers me when people then say 'that's Sideshow's markup' when comparing the prices to HK. Sideshow is the US distributor. They're not paying Hot Toys the retail price and then shipping them over to the US to sell and make $20.

Sideshow is probably getting these for 2/3 of the HK MSRP, at most. They're probably making more money selling Hot Toys than Hot Toys does.

Ya know, I took a look and that sculpt I decided to pick up. One of the best 'aged' Tony Stark sculpts I have seen.

This one looks alot better, but would need a comparison in hand.

Shape seems a little off, makes his head look a little too round, but the likeness is still there for sure. Agree a side by side would help, I think each sculpt is off in its own way, and up to preference. For me the shape of the face matters, which is why the one you posted seems more off to me.

Yeesh, if you were to tell me that 1 out of the 4 here was an officially HT released headsculpt from 2020 I'd be saying "yeah, ooookayyyy!" but sadly it's true...

Kind of sad to see how soft Hot Toys sculpt is. Zero wrinkle or skin detail compared to the others. I think the sculpt would have done better had it actually contained some skin detail.

That paintjob is beautiful (and I am definitely jealous), but the main thing I notice from those pictures is that, yes, the shoulders can be seated correctly so it doesn't stick out.

Yeah, the shoulders are a panic point on a lot of Iron Man armours. It takes some finesse sometimes, but on the recent diecast they have plenty of range to get them flush in most positions, but that seems to elude some collectors or they don't take the time.

Unfortunately according to the Owen, the shoulders on 85 really do stick out. The reason his doesn't is because he replaced the stock ball joint with the one from Mark 50 which are shorter.

Has it been confirmed by Hot Toys that the updated version will be released on Q3 2021? I could not find any information on their website / fb.

I am thinking about getting the released version but I am not sure about it. I am worried that they might update the figure itself and/or it would be released in next 2-3 months and I would be paying extra only for 2-3 months of time.

lol, you know I enjoy customizing and building things quite a bit but they really need to charge a lot less for a toy you have to finish yourself

If I was in your situation I?d definitely go with the mark 7. Such an iconic classic tank of an iron man figure. Of course, you gotta buy what you like. Do you want a more futuristic type armor (mk47?) or a more mechanical original style armor mk7?

I know this original question is days old now but if the OP is thinking of Mk. VII then I?d actually ask them to take a good long look at the XXI (Midas). Of course there?s nothing classic about the paint scheme (well actually in the tales of suspense comics, he had an OLD gold colored suit for like 10 issues or something before it was changed to grey/steel) but the Mk. XXI figure is anything except boring. I?m sure there?s plenty of people who think it?s too over the top or unrealistic but this person seems to only want to buy a single armor. It?s IS an MCU canon suit (IM3 HPP) and a big reason that people like(d) the 47 over the 46 was the additional silver/gunmetal which not only looks great on display but breaks the monotony of the normal Red/Gold/Silver combo. I do have to agree with ZE_501 that if possible, finding a Mk. V or VI which display incredibly well would be my choice. And sure the Mk. IV is basically the VI but the color changes and triangle chest RT make it look like so much more than just an upgrade to the Mk. III.

Just saying to take a serious look at the Mk. XXI (not just standard pictures, check postings & videos) as the suit has so much more presence than the Mk. VII.

That's one hell of an oversight. Really unfortunate. :slap

Its crazy, but I love the HT sculpt. I see more Tony in that than any sculpt so far.

I don't love it because the lines and fine details of his face have been lost. The softness of the production sculpt kills it. But yes, add those back in and it would likely be the best representation of RDJ in that lineup.

The prototype for it is NOT a bad sculpt. But it (a) looks like RDJ if he had a bit of work done before Endgame to try to keep his youthful looks and (b) is a significant departure (Stark contrast? :)) from what HT has programmed us to expect him to look like. HT's switching to this at the last minute was

Yeah. I get that people are upset. This has been a real year of people griping about HT output.
All I meant was that I see more Tony in the headsculpt than any they have released so far. And the proto looked nothing like him when our side by side to a pic of RDJ.
Whereas all I see looking at that sculpt is RDJ.
I don’t know what I’m seeing that everyone else isn’t(Well, most. A lot of people have chimed in to say they see what I see), but everyone’s brains are wired fractionally differently when it comes to vision anyway.
I just wish I could get that sculpt that HT will likely destroying. It gets me down they will be replacing it with that horrid sculpt that came with lol the recent IM armours that doesn’t look much like him at all. In my opinion of course.

God, that sucks. That actually way more bothersome to me than the head sculpt, and it's not like spare Iron man ball joints are just readily available for us to fix the issue ourselves.
