Is everyone in agreement here that it's the Marcus sculpt in the preview pic? I'm not quite sure.

I'm not entirely sure either, but I just looked at my Marcus from the same angle with the light coming from the same angle and he looks a whole lot like the Marcus sculpt indeed.
The one thing that looks slightly different is the hairline on his forehead but that's about it...

I'm thinking we'll see another sculpt, maybe a second one to go with this should this be the real sculpt.

I'm definitely waiting for the specs and pics and until I have watched the movie before deciding if I'm gonna buy this.
Too bad I probably won't see the movie before next week Sunday...

Sorry, I won't use the word crap again. Maybe this is a geographical issue, where I live the word is innocuous and conversational.

But a few points. It wasn't an isolated comment, I explained in detail why I disliked the preview image. Secondly it's not going against general reaction. Why is it ok to say "that figure is ____". But not "that figure is crap". Strange to pick out this one word amongst the more colorful conversations that are going on here? The thread after this one on the main General Collectables Section is called "Why do HT have so many ____ty licenses?" Now that is a trolling comment? Regardless I bow down and retract in the face of superiority.

Apologies, I will not use the word crap again, I didn't know it was against the rules. But my point remains, terrible terrible preview image. And the reasons why I think it's terrible? Read my previous 10 or so posts on the subject. I looked forward to this figure. I am a huge fan of the original Clash and had great expectations for the HT range. I don't have those same high hopes after seeing the preview image. I would therefore say it is fair to say that the preview image, for me at least has failed miserably. Here's hoping for a great turnaround and another final piece thats better than it's preview. Come on HT you have done it before!. Peace.

I understand what you mean and I feel the same way about this Proto pic as well. It's cra...... I mean it su.... I mean I am very disappointed with the sculpt choice for a proto pic, especially if it is used when pre-orders go up. If they are using this sculpt as a "temp" then I feel it's a bad choice and they should of waited until the "real" sculpt was ready. If this IS the "real" final sculpt, then this will be a huge pass or just pick up some pieces on ebay and re-use my Marcus sculpt.

I really think it is the Marcus headsculpt. If this was another T-Salvation figure I wouldn't have any issue with it.

Regardless of whether this is the Marcus sculpt or not, if this is the final sculpt it is way too plain for Perseus.

I don't think the word Crap is banned on here as long is it's warranted.
In this case it clearly isn't. The sculpt regardless of it's origins is a great likeness and overall from what little we can see, it looks pretty good to most of us.
I have realised that using derogatory words against things I don't like is insulting to the artists involved, so I have decided against using them. Sloppy Production Paint jobs are another matter though, and when they are responsible in ruining the sculptor's work, then the word crap is valid IMO.

Ok..! That is one hell of a good preview. I think the headsculpt is outstanding. I have one of those and I can't wait to buy another. The armor whilst lacking in detail is a credit to the team of artists that created it. I must also lay praise on the excellent Photoshop work, those guys should get a pay increase.
I'm gonna pre order five. Can't get enough of those Marcus heads. It's become a collecting sub genre for me.

The world would be a very dull place if we all agreed on everything.

I never said you had to like it.
I just don't think that the Hot Toys artists deserve to see the use of the word crap, when they clearly care about the quality of their products.

For instance if you have said

"That's a poor preview. I think the headsculpt is the same as Marcus Wright's. I have one of those and I don't want to buy another. I also think the armor is lacking in detail".

Nothing wrong with that at all, because it's constructive

The comment I made initially about the use of the word Crap, were my feelings on the use of it, but you got all shirty about it. Was I directly referencing you when I made that comment? No I was not. It just happen to come up in the conversation when Dave had pointed it out.
You seemed to think it was banned, and I was pointing out that it was not. I was not asking you to apologise again, so you have just got the wrong end of the stick in that respect.

You think the use of the word is warranted for this figure, I do not. As far as I can see that is debating.

The notion that simply reusing a pretty darn good headsculpt makes the entire product "crap" is ridiculous.

The AOTC Obi-Wan reuses a head sculpt, but the overall figure is pretty dang good. And the headsculpt was a fine sculpt...so who cares?

Same here. The overall figure looks like it could be average HT quality, which is pretty damn good!

I feel sorry for collectors that are only interested in what the face sculpt looks like. To me thats like 1/4 of the figure. And then on top of that the complaint here isn't "it doesn't look like the actor" rather that it looks like the actor, only from a different movie where the hair cut is almost exactly the same?

Are your tastes really so refined that what boils down to a generic facial expression (that otherwise looks just like the actor) turns a figure to "crap"?

I don't have a problem with people thinking this product isn't up to HT par. But "crap"...where are you getting context from? To me "crap" is Soldiers of the World and stuff thats from the 1990s Walmart shelves. THATS CRAP!

so i saw the movie last night...not as good as the original(but what movie is) but still good enough for me to want this figure. i really hope Hot Toys also makes Zeus and Hades(with glowing red eyes)
