Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

How much was that one guy selling his custom hall of armors for on ebay?

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

If this is the first in line for the DS series, I wonder what they'll make for DS002 because I think they'll rethink of the whole pricing thing for the subsequent releases. But then again, they might not.

Or they could just come to the conclusion "HoA didn't sell, people don't like dioramas", ignore the issue of price, and not make any more diorama pieces....wouldn't be the first time.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I can't wait to see what prices are for the average figure 2-3 years from now.

Honestly, if this trend continues, I won't be collecting anymore. I'll enjoy what I have and work on custom bashes, since that'll be cheaper and more fun! :)

That's exactly what is going to happen. :exactly:

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I would assume, had these been priced right and sold well, we would have gotten singles from here on once they release each new armor. That is really what they needed to do. $50 here, $75 there over time isn't bad. $800 all at once to play catch up is just insane. They blew it there.

:lecture They sure did. If they had of released them with each figure for a "better deal" it may have worked. No doubt they'll still sell though.:dunno

When you actually slow down on 1/6 purchases and sit back and watch how pricing trends are going, all you need is popcorn and a cold beverage. This hobby is becoming pure comedy.

I can't wait to see what prices are for the average figure 2-3 years from now.

:exactly::lecture my first response when I saw these on BBTS was to laugh. I mean congrats to the fans and all, but really... :lol

They sure know how to take money off people, $50 would have been a reasonable price.

these wold be nice to have, but way to much money. a 42'' lcd tv for 160.00, and you want me to pay 115.00 for a 12'' piece of plastic

That's my line of reasoning as well. I really wanted to go for the IM2 4 space setup, but $435 is a crazy asking price for what amounts to a basic plastic shell and simple electronics. Besides, those gantrys are still in stock everywhere, it seems they have a hard enough time selling through those.

Maybe if they had a version where it came with a new MkIII, then I would think more people would be interested.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Haha just looked on eBay and some people are already buying and selling these for more than retail. This is a big reason why prices keep going up. I just feel more blame needs to be put on people that do this for rising prices. They aren't even available for atleast 5-6 months. Just ridiculous behavior.

Lemme guess....they're located in Asia.

This whole pricing thing for the HoA has so many levels of effed up. I've noticed some here are actually using it to gauge their acceptance levels on other items. For instance, some here have noted that the 89 batmobile has better value compared to the HoA...I swear if this is HTs sneaky way of tricking Us into believing that their other products are "cheaper" by comparison....Eff them up their stupid *****.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

:exactly: Sit tight, these won't sell well, and you'll be able to get them below retail...which will still be pretty expensive...:monkey1

I doubt it. People have to order these for their to be stock. Pre-orders determine order numbers. Little to no pre-orders mean there will be only very few of these made. Look at Iron Monger. He isn't going to go on clearance anytime soon. I won't be surprised to see him go for $1,000 soon actually. He had a big price tag and a lot of people didn't pre-order, but changed their minds with in hand pics and what extra stock retailers ordered dried up fast. Same will happen with these unfortunately. I doubt we see them go below retailer discount rates (10% off). :monkey2

You never know. I've seen a couple of figs on discount here in china. For instance the tracker predator, falconer, hell even classic pred. Granted, these aren't big stars like monger, batman, iron man...but if these sell like ****, which I hope they do, they might get discounted and hopefully sends out a message to HT.

Yeah, but Monger is one of the best figures HT has ever made. It is, dare I say, awe inspiring. The Hall of Armor is extremely "meh" (and I have tons of the Iron Man figures!). I dunno, I like dynamic poses, so the thought of having the suits lined up in static poses in little boxes seems a bit underwhelming to me as a display option. If they had been reasonably priced, I might have picked up the 4 unit one and had a few of the Marks (I - III?) in there, with dummy, the autopsy table, and the Mark IV on the Gantry out in front to create a dio scene. But I'll not lose any sleep over not owning it at retail, and if it can't be had cheaper down the road, oh well...

Soooooo..... is anybody ordering these at all?

Oops sorry, just saw that after I posted. Never mind.
