This is one of those fun novelty figures you'll wish you had when/if you pass on it.

And I think the jack likeness is even better here.

But I'm still waiting on the gangster jack which I think they'll make because HT already paid for the rights so why not make more money off of it, right?

So, would it be in one's best interest to pre-order this? If it's anywhere near as mass produced as the DX 08, I wouldn't think so, but, then, too, it's a bit more nichey. It seems like something only the hardcore 89 fans would go for.

Yes because there's no NRD so you have nothing to lose if you want to cancel at some point. But if he sells out and you didn't PO you will not be happy.

I just flexed him today and first payment isn't until October.

First it's batman 89, so yes you order, second it's a kickass Jack. And I believe it will not be even close in the amount they made of the first Jack.

I always thought he likely remembered killing a kids' parents in front of the kid and the kid living to tell about it. There probably weren't many situations like that for Jack and Bob so it probably stood out to him.

That actually isn't supposed to be Bob in the Wayne murder scene... It was intended to be Joe Chill (the murderer from the comics). :) He is listed as such on the imdb page:

https://www.imdb.com/character/ch0077327/?ref_=fn_al_ch_1

IMDB isn't super reliable usually... But they have this right. It was confirmed by the film's producer Michael Uslan years ago in "Comics Interview" (and it is the reason that he grabs the pearls instead of Jack). Here is a little excerpt about the murder scene from the interview:

Very cool. Never knew it was Chill.

I still think the killing of Bruce's parents was something he clearly remembered though. That stood out to him right away unless he was just lying. I mean he is the Joker and all so the truth isn't something that would really interest him. :lol

Totally agree with you there. I think it did stand out... Especially after it was covered in the newspapers exactly who the kid was. It may even be why he repeats the "ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight" line to Bruce in Vicki's apartment. He states that he asks that of all his prey... but he actually only asks it of Wayne (as a child and as an adult) in the film.

What's funny is that his parent's tragedy could have been avoided in modern times with a text message:

Thomas: Alfred come pick us up, Bruce is scared

Alfred: On my way...

Ok I get that joker would remember killing the parents of Bruce Wayne, the richest people in Gotham. But how does he know that batman is Bruce Wayne? He doesn't lead on at any point in the movie that he knows it.

He puts it together when Batman says "You killed my parents.... I made you, you made me first". That is when he realizes that it is Bruce Wayne. Like we were discussing before, there probably weren't a lot of parents he murdered in front of their kids... and Bruce Wayne had just been brought back to the forefront of his consciousness (encounter outside City Hall, Vicki's apartment, Wayne telling him "I know who you are"). The logical person for him to be is Bruce Wayne.

That goon looks like young Bob to me. Joe Chill belongs to Begins.

Well, he actually belongs to the comics.... But that is indeed intended to be him in 1989 Batman. That article I scanned and posted up there is from 1989, long before Batman Begins. The person being interviewed is Michael Uslan, the film's producer (and producer of all the Batman films to date). He spent a decade trying to bring Batman to the big screen back in the 80's, and it was his vision that brought about a dark Batman on film in the first place...

If he says that is supposed to be Chill (and since a conscious effort was made to have him be the one grabbing the pearls), that seems like pretty strong evidence for me. It simply isn't well-known in the fan community because tidbits like that didn't have the internet to help them circulate back then. :)

Man - he is one passionate dude. :lecture

I love the documentary he's featured in about the history of Batman - it's actually one of my favourites, period. The fact that he was able to get an actual comic book course approved at Universities was an amazing achievement - especially after that book 'Seduction of The Innocent' did so much damage.

No doubt! This guy literally didn't give up on his vision of Batman. He tried for 10 years until it was ready- A dark Batman fitting the original vision of the character- when all the public really knew was campy Batman. He refused to compromise that vision to make it camp or a comedy. So if this guy says something in the movie is intended to represent something, I believe it. If anybody knows, it is him.
