Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

You people paying that kind money for this are out of your god damn minds..seriously certifiable.. you need help.

And.. I don't care if you are worth millions.

I'm seeing $200 tops for the pair, $80 for the raccoon and $120 for the other thing. HT could have still made a killer profit charging those prices.

(had to get that off the chest, rant over, won't be back in this nutso thread, enjoy the raping):wave
Get with the times. You'll never see those prices from Hot Toys again.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

I agree with everything. Great post and points sir :wave

Haha thanks. I don't post much but some things really can grind your gears :p

I think the trouble is the hobby has become far too diluted, too many self entitled people signing up complaining about cost. I've been in the game for 5 years, I'm 22 years old and I've known the deal since day one, not once will I whine about cost because at the end of the day I gave up paying £20 for 6 inch of plastic in Marvel Legends to paying £160 for something 1000x better.

At the end of the day, there's a reason these aren't sold retail at every corner shop across the world, because they are high end collectibles, expect a high end price to come along with it.

Ha, rant over :p

Once again I agree with everything. You should post more often :wink1:

How does my ten dollar, repainted 1/6 Rocket look about now? LOL

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

Agreed, $160-200 is the cheapest you'll see Hot Toys retail for the rest of your natural born lives.

If that isn't worth it, those people can always try Hasbro.

Amen! I hate seeing people whine about Sideshow prices! I'm from the UK, they should try buying from over here and having something sent over. Lets take the price of Falcon from an undisclosed UK seller and convert it to USD without shipping, $256.28 by Google standards, so probably near on $260... with shipping... well probably nearing the $300 mark. These whiners would choke on their tongue.

Yeah to be honest the whining does get kind of old after a while. Either just don't buy Hot Toys figures anymore and move on with your life or buy them at the higher price point but only get the stuff that you really want. It's clearly not changing so people going around acting appalled and thinking that they're going to send some kind of a message to Hot Toys by boycotting a release are just making themselves look silly. Not to say I don't think some of the prices are high but I've come to expect it at this point. I have my limits as to what I'll spend and I'll know that when it happens but it hasn't quite come to that yet with me (if every figure hits over $300 I'd seriously stop buying or buy a lot less). There are other companies that make figures for lower costs depending on what you're looking for so it's not like you can't buy action figures anymore, but the high end stuff is just going to be that high end, higher price..

Re: Hot Toys Screaming Tree Guy and Rodent.

What makes ppl think this might sell out rather quick? Is this a limited set?

Agreed, you should check out the waves of SSC whiners crying in every XM thread about the cost to import their products here to the US. :rotfl

Exactly, and often the complaints are justified ie a $300 Midas figure.

Re: Hot Toys Screaming Tree Guy and Rodent.

I think the set everyone is talking about is really just referring to seeing all 5 figures on display. If Hot Toys is going to do a 5-pack I wish they'd just announce it, especially if it's going to have exclusive items. I don't want them to wait until I've preordered all the figures or even have some of them in-hand and then pop up the 5-pack as a surprise. I'm looking at you Hulk and Banner.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

I'd rant more than anything :p

Well your brand of ranting isn't offensive, demeaning or expletive filled. Not to mention a lot of people here are responding well to what you're saying. It's refreshing compared to the usual angry rant that lashes out at anyone who enjoys the figure and takes away from their enjoyment. There is a right and a wrong of doing things.

I agree. I think it is just a 5 figure display. Doubt we will get a 5 pack but I'll try and wait until SDCC to see for sure

That's exactly what they want.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

I don't have a problem with people posting reasonable criticisms of a figure and explanations for why they don't want to buy it--opinion threads would be pretty trite if the only opinions allowed were "This is awesome, can't wait!" and "Day one pre-order!" But what I don't love are posts where someone gets on their whiny high-horse and insults the people who are buying a figure ("enjoy the raping".) Those kinds of posts tend to activate my ignore list.

When I started collecting just over 4 years ago, so I was 17/18... my intention was to collect every single Marvel figure. Whiplash was announced and I couldn't afford him, so I made the comprise with my system to only collect the good guys. Then Red Skull was announced and reevaluated my view of the hobby to purchase figures that reflect a good representation of the movie they come from. I stick to that and as such I've missed out on Iron Monger, Mark II, III, V, VI... Silver Centurion, Red Snapper, Heartbreaker, Igor... think that's it so far. If I had the dosh I'd pick them all up. But I don't, so I can't.

I don't go around the threads whining about how I wish they were cheaper so I could buy them all because if I did that a) I'd be doing about every aspect of life because hell why shouldn't I get things for free? Who cares about other people getting paid for my pleasure as long as I get what I want (sarcasm) and b) I'd look like a whiny little brat. Now what irks me is that I'm probably more entitled to act like a brat because I've only just entered adulthood so could still get away with teenage angst... but who tends to do the moaning? 40+ year old blokes with kids who probably have a greater matureness.

Exactly. You don't have to love the figure but it's unnecessary to insult the people that are excited for it.

Well yeah exactly. All opinions should be expressed but they shouldn't be offensive, over the top or rude. A figure set shouldn't boil someones blood that much

As a more silent member of the boards, a 'listener' or a Watcher if you will ;) I find those reasonable comments are near non-existent.

And cheers Dark Angel :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 253 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot & Rocket

And having said all that, I was sort of pleasantly surprised that Groot was only $200. Rocket would have been better at $100 in my opinion but since I'm buying him with Groot anyway the total amount is fine. (Assuming I like the movie--but that's why I pre-ordered from BBTS. "NRD" is a four-letter three-letter word.)

Now give me Gamora!
