This is how I arrived at the conclusion that Mark VI would be purchased instead of the Mark IV.

Ok, here goes:

VI is greater (>) than IV.

You see, why would I want to own a lesser number.

Now, if the Mark IV suit was instead named VI or VII or VIII or IX or even Mark X.....well then, I would've purchased that one.

Hell, can't wait for Mark XXX, that one should be special!

So nah....I have no idea what the ____ I was saying, but I'm only getting WM and VI cause i'm broke.

If I had more money I would also get the IV, it looks shiny and pretty.

It seems that they are waiting for complete sales of M4 & M6
On the other side when ppl will select the most interesting IM piece obviously it would be M5 and other marks will be sold very poorly.

There's always money to be made in merchandising, so they'll always be new suits.

There really isn't a correlation between the incarnation of IM armors in the films and in the comics, beyond the first one being made while a prisoner in an exotic location and subsequent ones being a bit more refined.

Like Rizzo says, for marketing purposes, they're probably gonna keep pumping out new suits every time he shows up in a different film.

These are movie based so it will be based on that. The comics Tony is always messing with things a bit. Now, his suit in the Invincible Series I'm reading the suit is actually a second skin that he uses when he gets ready to go do something. So something like that probably wouldn't work as a figure. A statue yes but not a figure. I would imagine we'll probably see a few more figures depending on how long the movies go.

The ratio so far is 3 suits / movie. I'm guessing the next one is gonna take us to mark IX.

I'll be interested to see what mark he'll be wearing in the Avengers film. It goes without saying it'll be a redesign seeing as there's a fresh director at the helm. Question is, will it fit into the IM film series continuity or just be a one off suit with no MK designation...

I dont think Marvel Studios will allow a one off, it needs to fit in with what has come so far and be able to be carried into Iron Man 3, even if we just see it in the hall of armor, or parts of it on his work station or HUD computers in the garage in the third film. I have a feeling we'll see something like Marks 7 and 8, and the Hulk Buster. I also have a feeling we'll be seeing something to the likes of the Suitcase Armor/ Mark 5 again, and that Legacy will be handling the props again, at least on the Iron Man end of the Avengers for the film to keep things symmetrical and not have any clashes later when 3 comes to production.

I have a feeling that in Avengers, you'll have the Mark VI that gets damaged, needing the Hulkbuster which will probably carry the Mark VII tag and then a final "new" armor the Mark VIII leading into Iron Man 3 where we'll finally see the Mark IX. Which means my Hot Toys set up will be phenomenal.

They could theoretically start off the bat with the mark VII since VI was damaged in the end of 2.

Very True although I wouldn't be surprised if the Mark VII didn't look very similar to the Mark VI with very subtile differences...

Well the damage is supposed to FUBAR but if you had Tony Stark money wouldn't you just build another? If I had Stark cash I wouldn't fix a damn thing.
