I agree the figure could be better... though...

They're not assumptions.

Did you not see what Hot Toys showed us at SDCC as their BE ALL END ALL "movie accurate" Big Chap figure?

It was a joke, to say the least.

The only reason changes were made is, more than likely, because of what was said here in response to their unveiling. They saw that the Alien fans WERE NOT going to accept what they were throwing at us.

Sure, they've made a couple of changes...but movie accurate it's not.

Not in the same vein as their original Pred or resculpted Joker/Batman/John Connor/etc...

And that's where alot of the animosity towards this piece lay. They have not treated this particular piece with the same attention they did many other pieces to please the DIE HARD fans.

We must not compare the preds with the aliens.i think alien bodies ,are more articulated and more detailed and its difficult to make them exactly as they appear in the movies.i really like Big Chap.thats my opinion

too bad 95% of the criticism has nothing to do with articulation eh? And I think overall it's fairly easy to make a straight standing alien

and you know, now that I think about it, the hole dome/skull issue to me is equivalent to if they made the original predator and his tusks were extra long, or even tiny nubs. This is a defining area of the creature, why screw with it?

I'm with you on this. It is dissapointing that they seem have less respect for the Alien than the rest of their products. However I've pre-ordered as the changes they have made are encouraging and I reallly dig the paint scheme. Also I'm hoping they will tweak it again before release.

Seems the likers and the haters (much as I dislike that generalising term) are taking it in turns. When the improved photos showed up it seemed everyone loved it but in the most recent round of posts everyones being vicious again!

I still haven't preordered. Its hard to be enthused about it when I can see its not totally accurate in the areas where it really should be. This alien still looks kinda generic to me. Together with past negative experiences with Hot Toys aliens - innaccuracy and unbelievably poor QC on the Aliens warrior, insanely hard to assemble and innaccurate piranha alien...sorry Dog Alien..I just can't get excited for this one.

The only way I'm tempted is in the fact that I have Kane and Dallas.

nope. i haven't said anything non-critical about it. or any ht alien for that matter.
they're consistently poorly-made. and the only reason anyone is buying them is because nobody else is making aliens in 1/6 scale. and ht knows it. why spend the extra resources to make drastic improvements when most collectors will buy what you put out no matter what?

OK when I said ''everyone'' I didn't really mean everyone. I know theres a few who've been consistent in their opinions. I went from ''definitely not buying'' to lukewarm myself which is where I'm at now. I should have said that there appeared to be a suddenly greater amount of positive posts in succession once the improvements were shown.

Well, I'm sure a number of folks who planned to buy this thing regardless/inspite of it's inaccurracies from day one were relieved and joyed to see some updates anyhow, and even some aiming for more accurracy probably saw it at first as a sign that their dream might come true, but I imagine now it's sinking in that the changes in the new photos are likely to be the only ones made, if HT were planning further correctsion, surely they wouldn't have taken so many updated photos ahead of time. There's always a slight chance of more things happening, not every HT update is photographed, but since they did take time and effort to take new photos, I'm thinking more that's their sort of final stamp saying here's our corrected, update, final revision ALIEN.

i think - and this is a hypothetical assumption based on no facts haha - that if you had 10 people orignally when they first showed pics, probably 4 of them would have bought it as is. 4 of them are die hards and would not. and 2 of them were not sure. after all these "changes" I think of the die hards, none changed, of the unsure, maybe 1 changed, and of the original buyers, maybe 1 changed. And you are still left with only 4 out of 10 potential buyers. Just speculating.

Personnaly I went from no way Jose to pre-ordering after the revisions. It's in no way accurate but after the tweaks it's a cool figure. Plus I got it for a very reasoanble price which is always a deciding factor. The fact is if HT applied the same standards to their Alien line as they do with the rest of their products it would be a no-brainer.
