Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Everybody is happy! :peace

This is the statement Sabres is most referring to. Yes it is black and white, get it or don't, but in the end, not everyone will be happy with this choice, it's not about the choice that'll make them happy for some folks, it's which choice will bother them least, not having the figure at all or having it inaccurrate, but they'll only be happy if it was more accurrate.

Exactly my point.

Thank you.

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

For me the options are:

- Buy Hot Toys Alien, fail to own accurate depiction of said creature = Unhappy

- Don't buy Hot Toys Alien, fail to own accurate depiction of said creature = Unhappy

The only difference is that in option two I don't drop the best part of £150 to import the figure. Neither option however, is a good result.

I'm all for taking a glass half full attitude, but come on. The only "good" outcome is if you happen to like what they've done with the figure.

Look... I understand the passion...
Collecting is a hobby, a choice and entirely recreational...
Some of my most beloved characters don't have products out there... I'd love to see them produced at least...
Hot Toys is producing a great rendition of the Alien... if it really pisses you off so much, go ahead an write to Hot Toys and do something about it...
not to offend anybody here...
but in the end... if you're that upset about a toy... well... maybe collecting isn't for you? :dunno...
:peace

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

I don't think anyone is upset. People are justifiably criticising something they're interested in but are disappointed with on a public forum, that's all.

Dude!!
I know you're one of the biggest Alien fans/collectors I've ever seen!!!
I'm just saying that Hot Toys did a fine work... and there will always be room for improvement and you will never be 100% satisfied!
And that's fine, but don't claim they didn't put great effort on this just because you don't like it... :peace

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

"I like it!"

"yeah, but I hate it!"

"yeah.... but I like it!!"

"yeah..... but I hate it!!!!"

and repeat until blue in the face...

i don't drop $150 for "fine". if i wanted "fine" i'd get the mcfarlane figure.
and there will always be room for improvement and you will never be 100% satisfied!
i'm perfectly happy with the ht predator figures i have so far.

if NECA can sculpt better alien figures for 1/10th the cost, HT could too if they tried.

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Trust me...I kick my ass every other Tuesday for that one. :duh

As the biggest alien Collector of this board, I was sure you owned one...You need to find one , dude..:rock

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

9 times out of 10 the frustration stems from companies getting so much right but then completely failing on other things.

I'm not so extreme, but everytime I see it mentioned or photos posted at this site, it saddens me I wasn't really aware of Sideshow when that went up for sale, I'd have gotten it in a heart beat, a great piece.

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Sabres, you have a fantastic collection! I love all of the sculptures based on concept artwork.

If the HT version were only, say, $80 I might consider getting it. But at $150, there's just too much not right with the head. I liken this figure to Sideshow's Mace Windu: I love the character and could forgive the inaccurate headsculpt due to the price. If he sold at today's prices, however, it would be an easy pass for me.

Ok since you took the time...:gun

OK, so don't buy it!
That's the awesomeness of freedom of choice! :banana

Me too, it's awesome!! :banana
But far from perfect! ;)

I'm sure they could... :banana

I mean, after the Blue Aliens fiasco, this figure is amazing IMO! :lol

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Well, unless some miracle occurs, we know HT will NOT make any more changes to this alien figure.

So, moving on to other preoccupations, what do you guys think about articulation? If this one uses the same type of construction as the A3 figure, then we can basically forget about any articulation in the hip area. Or do you guys think it'll have a rubber suit like the Medicom figure?

that was a paint app/QA issue. which HT has had their own problems with as well.
what i said was "sculpt". and NECA has HT beat on sculpting, hands down, as far as aliens.
maybe HT should hire tankman. the guy they've had doing their aliens so far is out of his element.

from the pics, it looks like the Medicom suit deal. neither option is really practical though.

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Yeah, that is one thing where I would've gladly accepted some artistic interpretation: the same type of articulation they used in the AvP and Aliens figures for the hips.

How is the A3 figure done, I thought it was an articulated body with a rubber torso suit like all the other Aliens?
