wow. really? i had no idea. i wonder when the popular book came out, then.
probably after the movie would be my guess. i just typed that sarcastically.

The book was published back in 1959.

Whats your idea about where all those eggs came from? I dunno, for me Cameron
for others o'bannon and giger created a lifecycle of alien, the one that was cut out.
A Queen egg-laying creature.
the carrier carries eggs, not queen.

dude, u just answered your own question. :)

cameron introduced the idea of the hive structure, with a central leader (alien queen) that the hive revolved around. is that entirely original? maybe not in the context of mother nature, but it made perfect sense. and who said alien beings cannot have a societal hierarchy similar to what's established with organisms on our planet? last time i checked it was all made-up stuff anyway.

btw, to quote vasquez: "bees, man. bees have hives, not ants." :D

anyway, in terms of new material, i was referring more to the theme of motherhood that i explained in my earlier post. that was a fresh approach.

also, cameron did provide some degree of social commentary with the war theme. it was a metaphor of sorts for the vietnam war. a technologically-superior military force going into enemy territory with little to no understanding of what it was up against. arrogance that ultimately backfired.

put all these things together and u have so much more than a dumb guns & ammo flick.
that's not a new idea. that's Starship Troopers. we're just going in circles now.

I hope Avi and Felmat don't read this and get offended, but I got a bit bored with teh pit, although I'll likely be back on there from time to time. I'm still pretty active on the Spawn boards, and the Fwoosh (less so), but I know you're not on there, so...yeah. Anyhoo, I discovered this board some months back and finally joined a few weeks ago. That, and I want an accurate Alien from Hot Toys! I'm holding out hope, but not very much, that they'll make the necessary corrections for the final production figure.

Maybe they're saving it for V2.

That's one thing about Hot Toys. They contort the collector market. They took a perfectly good cliche and turned it upside down.

It's no good laughing over spilled

I'm looking forward to owning him, but also crossing my fingers that he comes out with AVP Warrior quality in stability and not ALIENS.

Well he has a base this time. So hopefully some added stability there!

That'll be good for long term shelf posing, but I'd like to be able to explore poses that the stand won't support it in as well, I'm not spending the money this thing costs just to have it stand upright like all of HT's photos, I'm hoping I'm not let down and pretty much stuck with that, we'll see.
