Re: MMS 191 - Iron Man 3 - Tony Stark

i don't think that's the case, i used to be a fan of him. When i look at these pics i see the best RDJ sculpt made so far. There is a lot of TLC put into this set people don't appreciate it.

It's sad how there is little joy anymore. There isn't one single figure on this board that people are happy with, there is always something wrong from big huge dealbreaking issues to teeny tiny ones. In this case it's near perfection and people still aren't happy, that annoys me

Fair enough. I too agree that the blasting can get out of control... But hey, at least this isn't the DC threads. ;)

I think this release is overall awesome and can't wait to own it. I think the sculpt is a smidge off, yeah... but I have faith that it will be tweaked to perfection before release. If it isn't, this is still a must-buy for me and I'll just take the head as Tony on a "gym day". :wink1:

1730HKD PO price ~ :panic::panic::panic:

:yess: Thanks OMG! I am guessing Sideshow will put it at the $239.99-$259.99 range then. Hopefully under $250 though to avoid the NRFD.

i can't stomach even going into that section anymore, those lots are nuckin futs with the *****ing over the tiniest of details.

Yeah, I avoid it as well for the most part... Which is pretty easy considering I am not a Nolan fan. I visit the Burton Bat threads and Reeve Supes thread and that is about it.

Loving it.

Just noticed this too:

- One (1) LED-lighted stage with a cardboard underneath (battery operated)

...So the larger ring underneath is cardboard. That gives me hope that this may actually squeeze in a Detolf without that in use.

Also- I wonder if they might include a cardboard backdrop with the pictures of the actual movie prop armory with this? That would be sweet if so since I don't plan on buying any of the armory... If not, some industrious Freak needs to make one!

Re: MMS 191 - Iron Man 3 - Tony Stark

I don't even like the character and can see him near perfect in that sculpt.

I honestly can't comprehend how you all can dislike it. Doubly so since they could've done another figure in it's place for people who want them (like Elias for example) but instead did this for you fans and you refuse to appreciate how good it looks :dunno

I agree, from the side the profile (both sides) it's without a doubt 99.9% bang on, from front on I'd probably knock it down to around 95%

Just to put this in perspective, people are overwhelmingly positive about both DX Joker 2.0 sculpts. Most acknowledge that it's not perfect, but the vibe in that particular thread is pretty good.

I see a lot of RDJ in this sculpt, but the bits that aren't RDJ seem to be the really crucial bits. If that makes sense. Anyway, like most have noted, the sculpt will be tweaked. I think there's a lot of surprise that it even needs to be after so many attempts though.

This is one of the pics where face on it's near perfect :yess:

Agreed... then I see this pic and it loses it a little for me:

Crazy what a slight tweak in the angle of the pic can change how you feel on a likeness. That first pic seems great, while the second looks a little "Arnold-ish" in the mouth and jaw area. It also seems the eyes are a bit different between the 2? In the first, there is no white under the pupil area... in the second, there is visible white. There is a also a visible bag under the eye in the first, while the second it almost seems airbrushed out? Plus- Look at the points they come to at the bridge of the nose in the second pic, while the first pic seems much more natural. Those differences in the eyes throw it off a little...

I think it will look better in the final version though. I have faith... :)

It's not like Hot Toys have done 10 different headsculpts all from how RDJ looked Iron man 1 and still haven't nailed it is it? He does look different in every film, I remember when I first saw the IM3 trailer and thought he looked different (might have just been the new hair cut, he might of lost a bit of weight, who knows)

The more I look at these pictures the more the sculpt looks bang on to me :dunno

Re: MMS 191 - Iron Man 3 - Tony Stark

WTF is wrong with Kojun :lol :duh

Hes been celebrated as the sculptor, yet he loses big time to new sculptors like Scuderia from EB and the girl who did Bateman from iminime team.

Somehow, only having one armored arm seems incomplete even though he lacks the rest of the armor.
I suppose wanting to display him with both armored arms and boots is what I'd find cool about having something like this, almost like Tony is going bare bones Iron Man to take on some kind of threat.

If the right armored arm was included, I'd definitely pick him up parted out (skipping on the platform, cart, and robot arm) but would probably find a better head sculpt.

Right now, the only basic Tony Stark figure I need is an Avengers one, The MC set fulfills that need quite nicely.
